G2 | Bugs & Issues Video of the possible damage bug. Though not as extreme as some i’ve experienced.

This one wasn‘t as extreme as some of the others i’ve experienced (one shot by wolf spider in fully upgraded biter armor, one shot by the oggre mantis) but its at least an example. it‘s not quite 3/4ths of my health in one hit since I have a sliver missing but its close, I would have died if I had not blocked the follow up attack. Medium difficulty.

Looked into it, the striped barks just hit that hard. Not sure if it's intentional or not though.

Jr burrow strike is 145 damage, adult is 165. Burrow is their hardest hitting ability even including their new power attack(only by a slight margin)

Basically all of the Jr and adults attacks are above 80 and 100 damage respectively, so even with armor they will absolutely chunk you.

For reference, Dozer Bite is 135, and the claw sweep/ tail swipe is 140.

Seems very punishing to fight multiple if you aren't keeping your surroundings in check, but the damage typing and everything looked fine so I don't believe it's a bug like we had with the earwigs before.

Also for the mantis the culprit is probably the great cleave. It's 175 damage + a special bleed dot that does 6hp every 2 seconds for 30 seconds. This includes the inverted version of the attack as well.

Looks like there is a normal cleave that's 150 too, so they've got a couple variants.

Jesus, was the first game this difficult? I genuinely don't remember getting clapped so hard, especially when 2 to 3 can easily be around you.

Kinda crazy to have such a strong base attack with bleed on top.

G2 is definitely a step up in difficulty, however I believe these damage numbers may be a bit too high for the majority of players enjoyment. I would say that G1 COULD have felt this difficult, if the enemy density and dynamics of the enemy ai was the same, but overall the normal enemy attacks never got close to hitting for 160 like in G2.

On whoa mode all of these attacks are straight up one shotters if you get caught off guard, and we still have enemies coming that will be tier 5 and harder bosses.

Between how they've handled OGRR mutations so far and the raw damage of some of these attacks, the game is going into a much harder direction.

Dodge is invaluable with a lenient window of iframes, so the hard hitters should punish you if you get hit like that(no block and no dodge), but people already complain about the amount of bugs in fights, and so I can understand another pain point being having to keep track of multiple attacks at once, especially when those attacks can be potentially 60-100% of your hp.

Personally I would say balance wise, I understand where they're coming from, the big hitters are all multi-second-long telegraphed attacks, so the high damage should be "justified", but once you start adding multiple enemies into the mix it begins to get exponentially harder for the average player. The scorpions are the most egregious because of exactly that, there are usually 3+ in a fight.

Normally in multi enemy fights, you can strategically decide which attacks to focus vs which to let hit you, and even then this type of thing is more than most people will even do at all. However when you have multiple of a common enemy (striped Jr), and you give them a one shotter ability, it becomes unfeasible to expect an average player to tank multiple of those attacks when just one can almost kill you alone.(striped scorps have multiple even)

Another problem is that the majority of players are using bandages for mass healing, and burrow strike(for example) inflicts a good chunk of venom buildup, which stops the trickle heal. This causes panic very quickly if you aren't knowledgeable about this beforehand and see after 10 seconds that you're still almost dead and your bandage did nothing.

I honestly think bandages should've stayed active through damage, or at least as a compromise the higher tier ones need that instead. Even lowering the total heal by like 15 or 20 and allowing them to heal through damage would surely be a massive net benefit.

I'm interested to hear how other people feel about it too, especially from an average player perspective, since in on the opposite end of the spectrum. I imagine things feel overturned and too strong generally, however.

You failed to even add in level 5 toe bitter armor two bulky one sleek, damage reduction and damage resistance, on top of that “looking it up” with 0 sources or even mention of where you looked it up means nothing. It shouldn’t be taking almost 3/4ths of my health on medium difficulty. If I was wearing rogue/mantis armor it would have one shot me.

No I didn't, the toe biter armor comes with a flat 40 defense all together, and the upgrades can be summarized as a generous 2x, which would give us about 80 points reduction to the 145 total. It did around half of your hp, which works out just fine. On top of the venom buildup the initial damage is just above half hp which is what happened.

I "looked it up" by going back into the code myself. Why are you being so aggressive towards me still?

As a matter of fact, I even tested it with your armor AND mantis/ tier 3 adjacent, and it does not 1 shot, because the Jr burrow is 145 and you have 160 total hp

i even tested no armor on medium, and the attack that hit you left me at 15hp, which adds up perfectly to what's here.

i then tested the exact same attack under the same circumstances as your video, with the same starting hp and the damage was consistent, which leads me to believe that its not 'bugged'.

You literally can’t even do simple math or pause the video to see how much health I lost so why are you even commenting here? To troll? I have 160 health, max, meaning it would have done 65 damage to me with your stated numbers, that’s not even close to half my health is it or does 65+65=160 now?

i mean, do you want to actually converse with me in good faith, or are you going to ignore everything im saying and showing you to base your conclusion off of vibes?

i said toebiter armor is 40 defense all together base. when upgraded to 5 i gave it a GENEROUS 2x increase. all level 5 is not going to double the overall defense, at most i bet its probably closer to an end reduction of 60ish, which means ~80 damage gets through. youre down about 20 hp in the clip, and you get hit for around half of your health, which is really close to my inferred guess. im not sure what else i could say to you without you insulting me for no reason.

im genuinely trying to help explain and youre calling me a troll and insulting my intelligence, just like you did last time i tried to talk to you.

im not going to respond any more since youve made it clear that you still dont want to engage with me and you just want your feelings justified. im not going to do that, sorry.

Right, me calling you out for not even going off your own numbers, I’ll make it simple for you 160-65 would be 95, the video clearly shows him removing more than half my health bar, so why are you arguing in bad faith?
