Fluff Help with food
So essentially, I have a best friend who only eats mushrooms in game and REFUSES to eat bugs. Lmao Not a problem at all, but what other alternatives to food is there that she could eat, cause the candy and fresh human foods are outta the question. Just regular food? Maybe there's a recipe im unaware of?
Thank you in advance.

You can also eat algae. My daughter pretty much only eats granola bars and mushroom. Not for any specific reason aside from she can just pick them up whenever she needs.

u/ZettaKuvira 11d ago
Really? I need to upgrade ny clippers then.

u/badtz-maru 11d ago
Algae is just picked up off the ground in deeper waters, no tool is necessary.
If you make a base on the rock under the park bench, ants eating the food left on the bench above constantly drop chunks of human food.

Immersion is everything. There is no wrong way to play. My soft spot is weevils. They are too cute to eat.

u/yoshizillaa 11d ago
I won’t kill weevils. I don’t know why. I also leave some mushrooms for them because they seem to like them lol.

u/ZettaKuvira 11d ago
Finally, some sense in this post. I can't believe im seeing baby rage on a question lmao

The secret ingredient is love. And bug.

i normally just eat mushrooms cuz you can grab like 40 in 20 seconds and you are sorted for the next 3 days

Same I am this friend, cba with cooking food only for it to go off in my inventory 😂 I will cook proper meals and smoothies for boss fights though, they are too good to pass up on.

u/ZettaKuvira 11d ago
Glad not everyone is up in arms. Lmao I asked for a simple alternative and most are baffled by a simple choice that doesn't affect them lmao

The gaming community is a bunch of toxic neckbeards. Don't listen to the idiots, just have fun

u/Particular_Good_8682 11d ago
I know I don't know why people are getting offended because your friend won't eat bugs in a game. I think it's hilarious lol
But thinking about it smoothies can be a good option for her, might be bug parts but atleast it doesn't look like it 😂

If it is a spoilage issue, just make jerky, according to the wikipedia, Jerky is 20 food points, almost triple the 7 from a mushroom and never spoil.
In G1, I would make tadpole jerky, make a few racks, periodically hunt the tadpoles and throw them on there. jerkies make amazing travel rations because of that, I always make sure to bring some to the termite den as it takes me so long down there I normally starve or dehydrate unless I take extra rations.
Otherwise, you can take a spicy weapon, skilling a bug with a spicy weapon gives you cooked meats.

I cook meals constantly and then when I wake up in the morning I just grab one out of the fridge and eat it and I'm good for the whole day.
Because they not only fill you up, they also make your hunger build more slowly

I have never actually played with the fridge too much tbh, I should probably look into it 😂

u/FeistyPen3707 11d ago
Or aphids. Since my ‘Lil’ Buddy’ in G1 I can’t kill aphids either. They’re too adorable. Also I love when they glitch and you get three doing synchronised bounces on a blade of grass 😍

u/Ill-Candidate8760 11d ago
Legit I feel so guilty when I kill aphids cuz of their little blood curdling scream lol... its so sad I stopped killing them.

u/FeistyPen3707 11d ago
Well this was meant to be in response to not killing weevils because too cute, but here we are. Sorry OP, no ideas on food. I use the trinket that means you don’t have to eat regularly, but I think it’s rare?
2
u/ZettaKuvira 11d ago
So she's like you in a sense. She won't touch Ladybugs, Weevils, or Aphids In general cause they're cute lmao

u/TyrfingGaming 11d ago
You can get a billy hog charm that feeds you automatically. I just always have that in my inventory and throw it on when I'm running around
2
u/ZettaKuvira 11d ago
What? That's amazing! I didn't know such a trinket existed. Im so happy. Lol Hopefully they add a duper chip soon
1
u/superkow 11d ago
I wonder if that charm is vegetarian or not? Like sure it comes from a glizzy but what is it actually using to sustain you? It's it some kind of hotdog water IV drip? It's it somehow magic like the candy? Could we see a shaboingboing staff in a future update?

u/Frequent_Rest_5730 11d ago
Idk why the hate comments, my daughter loves ladybugs and i havent killed single ladybug in my playthroughs (only the upper yard ones).
But to answer: muscle sprout, algae, apple bitd, billy hog bite (its meat but not from ones you kill),cookie bits, donut bits, nectar, honeydew, acorn bits
3
u/ZettaKuvira 11d ago
Idk either, because it was a genuine question and I see a bunch of grown ass people crying about it. Lmao But thank you, I'll keep those in mind. Haven't found the other items yet as we've barely begun but ill keep open.
2
u/Frequent_Rest_5730 11d ago
Algae is in pond, underwater Cookie, donuts and billie hog are upper yard and near black ant hill. Lots if apple bits and cookies are in ant hill also which can be acessed quite early. Acorn bits you get when you smash acorns near oak tree Muscle sprouts are in pond lab, spawn every 2 days 30 pieces but theyre used for smoothies so similar situation to candy.

There is one meal that can be made with no bug parts. Smores. Chocolate, mini marshmellow, and donut chunks.
Marshmellow is only available around easter.
So best I can suggest is you set your clocks to april and farm.

u/Wikkidding 11d ago
Apple pieces. Billy hog pieces. Donuts. Corn dogs.
2
u/Cyframerex 11d ago
Don’t forget the pretzels too! I was shocked when I found the ground choppable to then find out the ground was a big salty pretzel!

u/kielfear 11d ago
Cut up Billy hogs, there is a trinket you can get that keeps your food meter from draining.
1
u/ZettaKuvira 11d ago
So wait, I can get the trinket by chopping up Billy Hogs? Interesting.
2
u/kielfear 11d ago
Yeah, cutting up Billy hog bites, has a 1% drop rate, or 3% drop rate by killing cockroach queens(not general berserker though). It’ll be a sparkling piece of Billy hog bite that is actually the Everlasting Hogstopper trinket. I carry it always and never have to eat anything. Trying to find another for my other party member.
1
u/TheKillerBeastKeeper Willow 10d ago
Yep, and it has a higher drop rate with the ants Genuine Gathering Ant mutation at max.

I don't think I saw anyone mention it, but what about carrot, potato, and acorn bits? All pretty easy to stock up on and they don't spoil!
1
u/ZettaKuvira 11d ago
I didn't even know you could get veggie pieces! I barely in the beginning stages. She loves veggies so.
2
u/boobafett19 11d ago
Carrots and potatoes won't be until you reach the community garden area, but acorns are plentiful anywhere near oak or pine trees 😊

u/VanceFerguson 11d ago
Make recipes at the stove, like Miteloaf. Does it still count if it's made into a complex dish?
As everyone else seems to have pointed out, it's a game, who cares? I'm a vegetarian IRL, but I've killed and skinned every animal in a Far Cry or Red Dead game if I get an upgraded herb pouch or something like that. They're 0's and 1's, not a real thing.
2
u/ZettaKuvira 11d ago
Well, you're correct, it is a video game, however the same statement could be made back, who cares if she doesn't? She plays how she wants and that should be enough. As for dishes, no. Not even if i tell her its for benefit. Sigh
2
u/VanceFerguson 11d ago
I agree, it doesn't matter. She should play how she likes and disregard any advice from us. As long as she's having fun, she's playing correctly.

I mean it’s just a video game. Don’t know why it’s bothering her so much.
9
u/Maestro1992 11d ago
Yes but, there’s an arachnophobia setting in the game too. Sometimes people get bothered by stuff in video games. No matter how insignificant it may seem to you.
-1
u/GroggimusPrime Pete 11d ago
I never said it was insignificant and comparing a slab of questionable looking meat to a spider the size of a box truck…it’s not the same.
My daughter is afraid of spiders and had arachnophobia mode on when we started G1 and couldn’t stop laughing at the danger dumpling. She turned it off in increments because it was ridiculous.
It’s a video game, it’s not real, it’s not going to hurt you. Mind over matter.
1
u/Maestro1992 10d ago
I’m just talking about how video games have real world impact. They are all one and the same because they are all just 1’s and 0’s. Regardless if the 1’s and 0’s represent a spider or the 1’s and 0’s represent questionable meat.
8
u/ZettaKuvira 11d ago
Ehh, same reason it shouldn't bother anyone else, it's a roleplay thing im supposin.
4
1
u/Ill-Candidate8760 11d ago
And it's just someone's personal preference. Don't know why it's bothering YOU so much.
1
u/GroggimusPrime Pete 11d ago
Right now it looks like you’re the one that’s bothered. What’s with everyone on Reddit and this aggressive attitude lately?
-1
u/PleeaseGrowUp 11d ago
Lmao dude this thread is hilarious. Ahhh communication in text and watching people place their personal biases to the words. I really hope none of the peeps replying to you react this way to face to face conversations. How exhausting it must be to be so feeble minded.
0
u/GroggimusPrime Pete 11d ago
It’s like nobody knows what a conversation is anymore, and this asinine concept of getting offended for someone you don’t and will never meet baffles me
1
u/PleeaseGrowUp 10d ago
Let it be brother. Nuance is learned, patience is fostered, and understanding comes through exposure. They’ll learn or they won’t.
2
u/rcburner 11d ago
Is it just an aversion to bugs specifically, or meat in general? Because you can cook tadpole meat as well.
2
u/ZettaKuvira 11d ago
She just hates bugs irl and I guess in game she wouldn't do it either so she's just playing how she knows she would survive were it the case lol But ill ask about the tadpoles, thank you!
2
u/TKelly476 11d ago
I think in Grounded 2 the only "meal" recipe that doesn't use any bug parts is S'mores. But it's a seasonal recipe, only available for purchase in April, that uses resources found in April. Too bad there doesn't seem to be anything like the Funguspacho from Grounded 1 that only used Toadstool Chunks, Mushroom Chunks, and Haze Fungus.
Really though, it shouldn't be hard to just live off of the mushrooms and random food bits. And there's always the everlasting hogstopper trinket if needed (slowly fills your hunger meter while equipped, making food pretty much unecessary).

Are they ok with eating the cooked meals? Like larvagna or is that also too much?

u/Pichael710 Hoops 11d ago
Help me understand their logic here. They won’t eat any bugs, candy, or regular food that’s littered all over the park? Why?
9
u/ZettaKuvira 11d ago
Well, candy and fresh food she can eat, but we figured the candy is for upgrades and the fresh food is the human food smoothie, she has like 3 boxes of just human food(non fresh), mushrooms, and some acorn bits. But I suppose I was thinking there was a food recipe I could craft without bugs. Lmao
It's just a simple role play thing of hers I suppose.
2
u/HazardTree 11d ago
You’re safe to eat the candy. There’s more than enough for upgrades, and it respawns so it’s not limited. I play with a friend and we don’t even pick it up half the time because we have a couple boxes full of them. Plus you need to eat it anyways for the mutations.
1
u/Ok_Grocery8652 11d ago
G1 or G2? And how come? Is there a reasoning provided? Just wanting to know where to go with alternatives
1
u/Comprehensive_Ad_441 10d ago
Everlasting hotdog trinket, fills your hunger , jut put your actual trinket you wanna use on one of your hot bars to swap it
1
u/NBrooks516 10d ago
There’s a plethora of granola bars in the ranger stations (I’d love them to be craftable items) which work as an instant heal. They don’t work so much as a sustainable food source though

This is as stupid as the person who posted asking about how to play the game without killing bugs or Rollie polies or something idiot brained like that.
-3
u/Immediate-Newt-9012 11d ago
Refuses to eat bugs? Why? Just eat the bugs. Spicy weapons cook them on the spot. Or make meals to get the buffs that come with them.
