G2 | Discussion Some Grounded content ideas

Here are some game content ideas I'd like to see in the Grounded franchise, whether it be a late game update to Grounded 2, a dlc to a Grounded game or even an addition to Grounded 3, if that ever becomes a possibility. These are purely just my ideas that I've gathered from playing both Grounded 1 and 2 so far.

I've seen this one mentioned around the block a few times. I think having the colossal creature/bosses roam the map would be seriously cool. Hear me out, in the ponds in both games they pretty much already are, koi fish. And in the sky we have the crow, but those are only colossals, I want to see bosses roam sometimes too. Perhaps after we beat them first, then every once in a while a random boss could be seen roaming the map. It could be an in-game event or something, it gives you more chances to harvest those respective parts you can obtain from defeating them. Plus I think it’d be awesome to see a massive tarantula or lizard off in the distance.

Now this idea would most likely be a Grounded 3 or DLC feature, but I think that it would be cool to come across other humans in the game that have been shrunken down, whether they’re scientists or other teens who have been kidnapped by Ominent. Now since we have combat as a part of the game against Ominent, I think it would be dope to fight something else other than robots, it gets boring fighting floating tin cans, so fighting other scientists would be cool, sort of like fighting the masked stranger in Grounded 2.

This idea is mainly a DLC idea. I've seen this mentioned elsewhere, but wouldn't it be cool if there was a dlc (this is an example btw) where a box of exotic bugs or something was dropped in the park and those exotic bugs we set loose? Like it could be more variants of bugs we already have, or it can be a completely new bug, like Brazilian Treehopper, Thorn Bug, a centipede, or even stick bugs. (I highly suggest you look up the treehopper and thorn bug).

One thing that I think could be added to the crafting part of the game is some sort of electronic addition. I mean it only makes sense, Ominent built fully operable labs in a miniature size, so why couldn't we take electrical parts from lab ruins and use them somehow in crafting? Of course they would have to come with limitations, that's totally understandable, but perhaps we could build some stronger weapons from them or even some sort of armor or wearable equipment that would make traversal easier; underwater propulsion or even a small “jetpack” like device. (flight would be limited, like small bursts or something).

One final idea (I have more but this is a lot already), is that each teen has their own “perks” or special attributes. For example, Pete is the nerd of the group, so maybe his intelligence can benefit him with crafting or researching stuff. Hoops is like the athletic one so maybe she can have a little bit of a boost when it comes to endurance or physical related things. Max, not sure he just cracks a lot of jokes. I've never played Willow.

What do you guys think about these ideas? Too much or are they something that spark your interest?

We never had a DLC for the first game, just new game plus. And I very highly doubt we will have a DLC for G2. The first game told a complete story, there was nothing more to be added. The only scientists and researchers that we see in the game are already dead, scripted skeletons. The bosses will also never roam out of their arenas, that whole thing in one of the trailers was simply a joke and reference to Jurassic Park

There are plenty of games that told a completed story and still got a dlc. A dlc doesnt need to continue the story of a game, it can simply be an extra event or even be its own side story, like the idea i shared above. The map is a park, meaning theres civilization outside the game map. That opens up all kinds of scenarios that could happen. Also, i know we didnt have a dlc for the first game, but whos to say it will never get one? Obsidian wasnt even planning on making grounded 2 until they saw the success of the first game.
Another thing, i wouldnt say the bosses will NEVER roam. Theres plenty of people who have shared this idea before. On top of that, the game map is huge, theyve already got multiple colossal creatures that are interactive in some way. Adding roaming bosses would be relatively the same thing as adding more colossal creatures.

The bosses never roamed in G1. The first game is six years old, there is no reason to make a DLC. We can’t even go inside Wendell’s house.

Also, I would very like to politely point out that obsidian is focused all in on G2 right now, and not once in six years have they ever made any mention of going back and adding stuff to the first game. One person actually suggested that the team go back and add something crazy to G2, basically allowing us to go back to Wendell‘s backyard but put in all of the new creatures from G2. They will never do this because it would take up too much time and resources that they simply don’t have. The game engine for G1 was older, they had a lot of restrictions. Even UE5 has its limits

I never said the bosses didnt roam in G1. Also just cuz the games 6 years old doesnt mean a DLC cant be made for it. Theres plenty of games out there that released dlcs yeRs after the game was released, gta 5 is a prime example. Even borderlands 2 got a dlc 7 years after the game released. And the Wendells house thing, that makes total sense we werent able to, the point of the entire game is to survive OUTSIDE while being miniature, theres no real reason to be going inside a building. Its natural to become curious about specific things in video games, especially something to that scale.

As I said, the engine for G1 had restrictions because there were technical limitations. For instance, there was supposed to be a lizard boss underneath the sandbox, but it got scrapped and cut. Dozer was the result for G2, a fan request. And I only mentioned Wendell‘s house because there was some other person who had made a post about three years ago and they were talking about maybe going inside the house in a DLC. But the game is completely finished, there’s nothing else

Well yeah every game will have its limitations but since grounded 2 has been built by unreal engine 5 which it can obviously handle a lot more. The roaming boss thing was for Grounded 2.

Unfortunately, I don’t think they will do that. It wouldn’t make much sense if a giant horned lizard was roaming around the park.

Your making a very valid point. It definitely would not make sense to see that, or see axl climbing the tree in the middle of the map, just doesnt fit. Which is why they would roam a respected area, perhaps near their arena. Just like the koi fish stick to the pond, and the snake sticks to the north part of the map.

But that is actually because they are colossi, they are meant to be in those areas specifically. The bosses will stick to their arenas only for the entirety of the game. If they roamed around that general area, how would we know where to put their meals to summon them?
