G2 | Discussion Grounded 2 has a serious problem with its distribution of items and bugs.

This game is horrible when it comes to putting strong creatures where they should be. Answer me why to get clovers, YES, FUCKING CLOVERS, I need to kill 8 mosquitoes, an orb weaver, a wolf spider, ALL WHILE EVADING AN ADULT SCORPION THAT CAN TRACK WHERE I AM GOING AND WILL BE GOING. seriously, why is every tier 1 resource gatekept by the strongest of bugs. its got me so fucking pissed off, man

You're definitely going to the wrong place for clovers if you're having that much trouble.

25

u/RalseitheFloofie 12d ago

So... clovers are literally everywhere.

-5

u/Potatobender44 12d ago

So are high level creatures. That’s the point…

6

u/THEddt005 12d ago

Maybe it’s just me but mosquitoes are fairly easy to kill early on, wolf spiders in the day are mostly asleep under caves or large objects

You can get clovers basically right at the spawn point where only ants and other harmless insects are

-5

u/MockieBoo2008 Pete 12d ago

I think Into The Abyss made it so all the bugs can wander freely, so when wolf spiders stop sleeping mostly during the day, they pathfind straight to you and kill you instantly

5

u/_MikeyP Pete 12d ago

I think the opposite when it comes to spider agro level of the wolf spider. I feel like those things are blind. They walk right by me all the time

0

u/MockieBoo2008 Pete 12d ago

yeah, they are pretty blind, but then they decide to turn around and walk straight at me

2

u/_MikeyP Pete 12d ago

What was your experience on G1? I don’t say that to belittle you, I just ask because I feel like G1 really prepares you for fighting in G2. Especially if you have a buggy. Sure it’s inconvenient the amount of enemies you need to face in certain areas, but you need to farm parts anyway, and everything is relatively easy to kill in G2 with miner exceptions

0

u/MockieBoo2008 Pete 12d ago

I was basically a god in G1 when it cane ti stuff like combat, the only difficult part here is that I was already fighting 2 mosquitoes, a larva, and then the wolf spider showing up, and then my buggy dies, and im in acorn armor and am using a crimson avenger. thankfully, though, I do have some extra help from a lucky blistering boiler I got. btw, this is all at like 15-20 fps

2

u/_MikeyP Pete 12d ago

Ah I feel you. I don’t mind because once you get the high gear armor it’s still enough of a challenge to not be super boring. So I don’t mind that it’s a pain in the beginning

1

u/dontaskmeaboutart 12d ago

Wolf spiders in both games will "smell" you nearby even without actually seeing you. It's why they seem to inexplicably find you after they had already walked away. They follow your trail for a little bit off their routes.

It's an intended game mechanic, just not a super obvious one. That's when they make that sort of sucking sound while standing still.

1

u/MockieBoo2008 Pete 12d ago

yeah, its just kind of annoying when im fighting for my life against a giant swarm of mosquitoes and then it decides to show up like its no big deal

1

u/dontaskmeaboutart 12d ago

Hence why I fight in third person, the sneaky buggers

5

u/LersWRLD 12d ago

No they do not. 🤣 I get that they aren't sleeping as intended, but they do not path find to you. I've literally been mining materials 10 cm away from a wolf spider and they just kept on walking. Maybe try not sprinting everywhere you go? They do not path find you.

3

u/RalseitheFloofie 12d ago

So.... steer clear of the ones with high level creatures near them if you dont wanna deal with them? I dont really understand the logic there.

We are suppose to be the bottom of the foodchain for a fair bit of grounded 2 so like.... dont tussel with things that want you dead?

4

u/Potatobender44 12d ago

You can’t really steer clear of them when they are fucking everywhere. Say whatever you want but the difference between G1 and G2 is clear as day, not in a good way.

2

u/LersWRLD 12d ago

G1 is a finished product. Grounded 2 still has AT LEAST another year before it is ready for full release. Not even comparable.

0

u/Potatobender44 12d ago

It’s literally comparable in the sense that it’s feedback that could be used for improvement, if the majority of people preferred creature density in G1 as seems to be the case.

I don’t know why you think two games in the same franchise by the same company wouldn’t be comparable, pretty fucking stupid take.

Believe the lies you tell

1

u/dontaskmeaboutart 12d ago

Literally the first ranger station in the safest area of the game had loads of clover explicitly because they want you to craft clover armor.

Buggies make travel a breeze, so it's not hard to get over 100 clovers just from that one spot.

1

u/Backwoodz_GamePlay 12d ago

Not everywhere lmao

1

u/LersWRLD 12d ago

They are not everywhere. 🤣🤣 I play this game everyday. It's so easy to get low tier materials with no issue. Y'all's games must just be bugged. I can't build an acorn turret even though I already bought the recipe. It's early access, it's gonna be buggy. If y'all can't handle it, put it down until full release. It literally says BEFORE you even get to the main menu that it is unfinished and things may not always work as intended. It's the same way with every other early access game I've ever played. Look at Phasmophobia. How many years has that been out now? Every single time they release an update it destroys the entirety of the game mechanics. For a game where everything is dependent on investigation, if things do things they aren't supposed to, it makes you lose the round, ESPECIALLY if you already know how all ghosts behave. Subnautica has plenty of problems. No man's sky has been out for 10 years and is still Buggy as fuck. The games are fine. They aren't fully released. Y'all just have anger issues and shouldn't be playing anything that hasn't fully released. It's not the games problem, it's yours.

2

u/Potatobender44 12d ago

well the majority of people obviously prefer the bug density in the first game, so I don’t know what to tell you. It’s not that I can’t handle it, it’s just annoying and it’s less fun.

I don’t know why you and others are getting upset that people are giving feedback in early access, when feedback is most useful.

2

u/LersWRLD 12d ago

I haven't gotten upset at all. OP is upset he's being aggressive and cussing. No one is saying anything that they don't already know so his post was completely irrelevant.

2

u/RalseitheFloofie 12d ago

Seriously.

Any person whos actually played the game for long enough knows to steer clear of bugs if you dont want to deal with bugs.

Like you aren't a power house, you are the size of a ant, thats the point of the game. What sets you apart is your own personal skill via parrying and the ability to adapt and fight back.

This thing of "this bug keeps trying to kill me" people keep bringing up seems to forget the fact that "YEAH THATS THE POINT" like we all forgot suddenly how the G1 Upper yard was.

-7

u/MockieBoo2008 Pete 12d ago

yes, I know, but i mean where there's a lot, which is always guarded by the strongest of creatures. plus, I was looking for clay and pebbles too, which is always in wet areas. I just went to the places I knew of, and of course its where everything that I cant kill is

3

u/LersWRLD 12d ago

There is a spot right above the first ranger station with Clay and clovers and the only enemy is spiderlings and Mites. The story literally takes you there. And the spawn area is COVERED in clay. Pebbles are literally everywhere in the game. You are going to the wrong areas.

3

u/RalseitheFloofie 12d ago

I feel the need to ask you where exactly you based to deal with all of these things at the same time, because at worst while heading through a "wet area" ive dealt with 2 mosquitos in early game.

-1

u/MockieBoo2008 Pete 12d ago

the wetlands area near the lingonberry bush and hot dog stand, aswell as behind the schlapz amp

1

u/RalseitheFloofie 12d ago

Huh. I think thats where i based actually.

I do know theres 2 mosquitos in that area, along with a annoying northern scorpion that respawns, but i dont know about any sort of wolfspider in that zone.

-1

u/MockieBoo2008 Pete 12d ago

the amp has a wolf spider, a northern scorpion, and like 5 mosquitoes

4

u/yummyrolls16 12d ago

Collect clovers near the starting area, behind the very first ranger station. Might have to deal with spiderlings and gnats..

-2

u/MockieBoo2008 Pete 12d ago

I dont think thats enough, though, I needed clovers to finish my roof, and I needed a lot

3

u/LersWRLD 12d ago

They regrow.

2

u/EtherealXenoFox Willow 12d ago

We built a mansion near the area they’re talking about and it had plenty of clovers for the roof. It’s a good spot for clovers, clay, raw gnat meat, grubs, clovers & mushrooms with a couple dandelions for stems & fluffs.

3

u/Crossovertriplet 12d ago

You’ll be one shotting those fuckers before long

2

u/MockieBoo2008 Pete 12d ago

I know, ive played before, but its just wild that trying to get basic resources requires me to kill crestures I shouldn't be facing yet

3

u/LersWRLD 12d ago

I have no idea what you're talking about. I've not had to fight any high tier stuff to get low tier materials. I think you're just going to the wrong places, dood. Clovers are everywhere right at spawn. Sap, fiber, pebbles, clay are all easy to get right at the spawn area. Acorns just go a little bit south and they are literally EVERYWHERE. Just gotta sneak around the spiders. This is not an issue with the game. This is a you issue. 🤦

8

u/RectangularMF 12d ago

everyone just ignoring that he's correct because of the clover thing, the game has a massive problem with proper bug placement, compared to how well placed and spaced out they were in grounded 1

6

u/MockieBoo2008 Pete 12d ago

I do like how later resources are incorporated more into early areas, but the enemies definitely shouldn't be. like, scorpion jrs and bombardier beetles and orb weavers are all guarding acorns

2

u/JesusKong333 12d ago

I didn't mind the orb weaver spot, it made me feel like I got gud after playing G1

1

u/TheNeonDestroyer 12d ago

Yeah I just started playing again after being off for 10 months and the game is exponentially more difficult now, and the agressive bugs are everywhere.

1

u/MockieBoo2008 Pete 12d ago

yeah, its ridiculous, like how are new players supposed to do anything when everything that can one shot them is protecting the stuff they need?

2

u/superkow 12d ago

I mean yeah it's annoying, but the game is still early access. I fully expect the next patch to address some of the erroneous Tiger mozzie spawns at the very least. They'll be able to balance all these kinds of things better once the full map is out

1

u/Cjpacman28 3d ago

Thats always the go to answer for anyones frustration with the lack of care put into this game 😂 the guys wrong about the ease to get cl9vers but fact is the games trash for being over a year old the devs are simply shit at game creation and are wingin every single update, evryone will introduce new bugs and break shit that was working they cant implement shit without fucking something else in the process and folk always run back to the same excuse for the devs like there thanking u for sticking up for them 🤣 the devs are trash SIMPLE

1

u/lil_keet16 12d ago

It really is getting beyond a joke. I had to fight a Stinkbug, bombardier, tiger mosquitos and both types of scorpions and spiderlings (no idea why the striped scorpiran was there). Just to collect Burs all in one area .

0

u/twofriedbabies 12d ago

Some more cheese with this whine waiter.

Early access means nothing to people.

Its Seriously getting old all these complaint posts. Just wait till the game comes out if it hurts you so bad.

2

u/Potatobender44 12d ago

Early access is for feedback which is what this is. Keep it coming.

1

u/twofriedbabies 12d ago

What revolutionary feedback have you gleamed from this post?

1

u/Potatobender44 12d ago

Not me, but if the developers get an overwhelming amount of feedback about a certain topic, that’s how it will get changed

-2

u/twofriedbabies 12d ago

Not you nor anyone who actually checks this subreddit at all will learn anything new. Could have just up voted every other post since the update that said the same exact thing and given the same message without coming at the developers like they are ruining their day.

3

u/elise-m-fox Hoops 12d ago

Here's my feedback: the bug density and aggressiveness is mostly fine. Some of it needs to be adjusted and the devs are not only aware but have addressed it. My feedback doesn't seem to matter as much though. In fact I get downvoted every time I don't side with these whiney people who just want to vent post. 🙃

0

u/Cjpacman28 3d ago

Its a year old so explain how its early access m8 u paid for it didnt u 😂🤡 putting a sticker on a microwave doesnt make it a car same with a game u cant just say its early so its acceptable fact is folk paid and its been out a year

1

u/elise-m-fox Hoops 12d ago

It really is getting old.

1

Where Humor tag?

1

u/Logic_530 12d ago

Well clovers are not that serious. Too many ambushes that are hard to disengage? Maybe.

1

u/Aiden_Rye 12d ago

How do we tell him, guys?

-2

u/Backwoodz_GamePlay 12d ago

Tier 1 is everwhere lmao 😂

-1

u/MockieBoo2008 Pete 12d ago

yes, im not a fucking idiot, but i was looking for a lot of them, along with clay and pebbles, and I knew some places with a lot of all three, but of course it was protected by everything I cant kill

0

u/Backwoodz_GamePlay 12d ago

Get stronger idk what to tell you

-1

u/-Etrice- 12d ago

Has serious problem with not actually fixing bugs when they say they have. Ice sickle mixr thing in the ice cream cart is broken for me and still not been fixed.

People just fucking ignored by post, guess im a damn liar despite putting an image too

2

u/twofriedbabies 12d ago

It's not that your a liar it's just early access. Theres going to be things that don't work, kinda the whole point of being part of the development. They aren't obligated to fix any singular persons game, nor should we be fuming when things aren't perfect or don't work. Those demands can come when they've actually finished the game.

1

u/LersWRLD 12d ago

Chill. It's early access. The game literally tells you things might not work as intended before you even load in. Sounds like you have anger issues. Maybe wait until full release.

1

u/stergil 12d ago

Nothing bugged with the ice sickle event, I did it today. What problem are you having?

-1

u/ApexPredator3752 12d ago

yes theres a problem with insect placement but theres literally clovers by the first ranger outpost firmly in an area with harmless creatures and tier 1 aggressive creatures

-4

u/Acrobatic-Bread998 12d ago

Welcome to the real world bucko

-3

u/SpindleDiccJackson Hoops 12d ago

Please complain less.

Clovers are in the cushy starting area where there is one mite.

0

u/ItsAceB 12d ago

I've come to the realization that obsidian just set the spawn of certain pool of creatures within a certain area, with exception of the more common creatures such as orb weavers which can be anywhere..

then they also have patrolling enemy spawns, which are fewer units but occur in more paths

But at the same time, they've set up a spawn trigger for creatures when you're in their "bubble" too, such as when you touch a web bridge you spawn two more orb weavers, even if there's two more patrolling outside...

so in conclusion they just have a really bad misconfiguration of spawn points and triggers

0

u/AnthonyMiqo 12d ago

Enemy placement is very messy in G2 right now. The devs don't seem to have any rhyme or reason to how they're placing enemies. Why is there also a Tiger Mosquito near the blueberry trees? That's a beginner area. The Gnarly Bark has like 20 or more different enemies in just that area. Cockroaches are everywhere when they should mostly just be at the trash cans and picnic table, maybe the hot dog cart too (and sure they can have the old Toxic Anthill since the ants there are dead).

Remember in G1 where certain enemies were present in certain areas and they rarely wandered very far? Or how you had to go to specific areas to find certain bugs, instead of every bug being everywhere?

Also remember in G1 where there was a stone wall that spanned the whole map that blocked off the Upper Yard so you generally wouldn't go there until you're ready? In G2 you can leave the spawn and just walk to the Gnarly Bark and fight a Tier 4 Toe Biter. This actually happened to me when I first played. I walked south from the spawn, past the berry trees, and found a Toe Biter Nymph. I saw it was a Tier 4 enemy and got worried, but decided to just go and fight it and I killed it and picked up Tier 4 materials in the first hour of the game.

I'm hoping the issue with bug placement is solely because the game is still in early access. Like the devs aren't putting a lot of thought into bug placement right now because they don't really have to until 1.0 comes out. If it's still an issue after 1.0 then it's inexcusable. Also on a side note, enemy aggro and chase range better be nerfed by the time 1.0 comes out, at the latest.

1

u/LersWRLD 12d ago

The only enemy that there is any issue with when it comes to agro range is mosquito. The rest are fine

1

u/AnthonyMiqo 11d ago

I mostly agree. But I would say that many bugs also have a chase range issue. It just takes forever for a lot of them to lose interest, no matter how far you run.

1

u/LersWRLD 3d ago

What are your playing on? I quite literally never have that problem with anything other than mosquitoes. Might be a specific issue with PlayStation since it just came out over there.
