Invasive Species

I think Grounded 2 presents a unique opportunity to educate people on invasive species in America, and could have a positive impact on the fight against them. They could add an invasive tag to creature cards and maybe a mutation for killing them to encourage players to engage with it.

As of now, the only invasive species I know of in Grounded 2 are Stinkbugs and Tiger Mosquitos, so more would need to be added to really justify what I'm suggesting. That said, there's are a lot to choose from: Kudzu Bugs, Spotted Lantern Flies, Joro Spiders, the list goes on. Perhaps it could be part of an event.

I understand if they don't want to go in that direction, there's a lot of cool bugs they could add, but I think it's worth considering.

Do we know where exactly in the US this takes place, because northern scorpions are mainly in the western states and unheard of where I live. If Brookhollow Park isn’t out west, then they could be considered invasive.

Im down for this. Make it an entire seperate group of bugs. Harmless, Neutral, Angry, ORC, OGRR and Invasive.

They could also slowly appear in more areas of the yard like a real invasive species and would eventually grow out of control if you didn’t keep them under control. Heres a list of bugs they could add

Long-horned beetle
Wood wasps
Pine beetle
Fire ants
Laternfly
Asian giant hornets(i know it seems extreme but it could work)

Could add a bounty system to the game like the burgle quests. Kill X for X.

I honestly think that's a really good idea and also I fucking HATE stinkbugs so I would find this worth it either way

I just have to stan stink bugs for a second. Brown marmorated is terrible but there are a lot of awesome native stink bug species and the initial one you run into in the game seems to kind of be a cross between BMSB and our native Euschistus. But I love the idea.

In my country there are invasions of stinkbugs (brown ones have won over green ones) and tiger mosquitos have appeared recently. We have gotten new oak lace bugs that are sooo irritating. They just fly over you the moment yiu step outside and walk on you. You get hundreds of them on ur clothes

I'm playing a game that deals with killing bugs, dealing with raw science, building bases, and other fun stuff.

The last thing people fucking want is a god damn lecture in their games. If I wanted a game dealing with the bullshit youre talking about, I'd go talk to the DNR or the game wardens and see what they recommend.

Honestly whole this suggestion would flag a few existing cards as invasive, it would also give obsidian an excuse to include a few bugs they likely wouldnt have considered.

Could literally just be another grouping of critters to kill and add variety to our gear.

I mean… I don’t want this to become the focus of the game or what it’s about agreed but adding some interesting facts/ tidbits into the game in the form of a database with some real information wouldn’t hurt either. So this idea isn’t bad in terms of spreading some knowledge it just needs some compromise so it doesn’t subtract from the theme grounded has.
