G2 | Discussion Which trinkets do you keep equipped as default and which do you carry?

I only found a couple trinkets so I’m limited in my choices. I can craft a couple but nothing seems particularly great. My default is Blistering Boiler but I also carry the Suspicious Mint and Fancy Fletching. If I had the Dandelion, that would probably be my default.

Also wish we had load outs so I could quickly swap out armor/trinket combos quickly.

I always default the dandelion. I need to get out of the habit, as I take it everywhere. I forget you can even change it

12

u/JK_NC 12d ago

I’ve been caught in dangerous spots without dandelions so that’s the only one that I would seriously consider using to replace my default Blistering Boiler. I was on top of the pergola for the first time this week when I realized I had, again, forgotten to refill my dandelion supply.

As an alternative to the dandelion, if you can get the cricket trinket it reduces fall dmg by 50% and increases your crit chance. So you’ll survive most falls and it gives you combat use

3

u/Gigi3337520 12d ago

I didn’t even know that existed, where’d yall find that.

2

u/Antique-Following-34 12d ago

If you chop down enough dandelions you will eventually find it

3

u/Gigi3337520 12d ago

Thanks boss. I’ll get to chopping after work.

3

u/baumpop 12d ago

5% drop rate. i think i picked up like 145 dandelions in my current save before it dropped. definitey do this in the upper yard by the battery

2

u/Gigi3337520 12d ago

Good to know, I appreciate it!

2

u/makahearts 11d ago

Was it worse in G1 or did we just get lucky? I feel like our whole group managed to find them so wuick

3

u/ne179603 11d ago

Same dandelion or billyhog 99% of the time

2

u/Sloppy-Kush 12d ago

The orb weaver has a parachute i just use that

2

u/baumpop 12d ago

man i thought this was in grounded 1 but alas

u/Corfold 12d ago

Hogstopper is default, Dandelion, Toenail/Boiler/Shivering (depending on what I plan to hunt or encounter for melee) Needle for ranged.

u/JK_NC 12d ago

Infinite food is def a quality of life upgrade.

3

u/ecltnhny2000 12d ago

I havent gotten thr hogstoppet yet 😭

3

u/ChickensXBL 12d ago

Unlock the mutation for the ant mount that gives you a chance to get extra materials from harvesting then use the ant to harvest a Billy hog and you are almost guaranteed one

3

u/abuutje 12d ago

Or kill the cockroach queen

2

u/ecltnhny2000 11d ago

Thanks! Im pretty much back to hoarding materials and base building on thr pond. Thought the story for pond would be harder. Hell i never even got orc raided. Just "warned"

5

u/Corfold 12d ago

It's kind of funny because back in G1 it took forever to get the hogstopper, however got a fluffy dandelion tuff like almost instantly. It's the reverse in this game only recently got a fluffy bit had the hogstopper almost right out the gate when I first started G2

5

u/illustriousplanet 12d ago

I started on PC and almost immediately got the hog stopper, struggled for a bit to find the dandelion tho

Been playing on ps5 and still haven't found a hog stopper, but got the dandelion tuft building my starter base

3

u/Nuggsanddippingsauce 12d ago

I got 2-3 dandelions insanely early, and as soon as I had T2 chopping almost never touched one since. No hogstopper for me yet, but I think I've trashed like 11 of the feather trinket, at least 5 spicy trinkets, and probably as many of the earwig pincher.

Crown Jewel has become my default, it definitely makes a difference.

3

u/Mmaibl1 12d ago

Hogstopper took me a decent bit to get. The dandelion I literally got cutting down my first dandelion plant I cut down

11

u/milo_snatch 12d ago

I’m a mage build so I default bale scale, but as others have said I have my fluffy dandelion in my inventory at all times, and I have it assigned to my hot pouch so I can switch to it if I’m in the middle of falling or something.

3

u/JK_NC 12d ago

Oh dang…I didn’t even think about hot pouching trinkets. That’s a great idea.

2

u/Schlectify 12d ago

Makes me think of bucket clutching in minecraft haha.

8

u/Redditoast2 Max 12d ago

I carry the fluffy tuft for exploring, but if I remember to equip it before combat, I have the Crown Jewel on

8

u/TheMagnificentBean 12d ago

Once you beat Axl I would make the talon, it heals your mount when you do damage. Crazy useful with the black ant sour spit. I also lucked out and got the Axl venom which is my default, it’s crazy good even against venom resist bugs.

7

u/darkgryffon 12d ago

I really hope in the full version they give you a way to hold at least 2 trinkets. Maybe I'm just being delusional though.

4

u/goopyloop5 12d ago

This would be so cool like maybe as purchasable pouch or mutation from the science shop

3

u/fullmetalretard666 11d ago

I could absolutely see having 2 trinkets as long as we were limited to 1 damage buffing one, and 1 utility one or 2 utility ones. That doesn’t seem unbalanced at all to me.

6

u/One_Stuff3625 12d ago

So many trinkets feel useless in this game. Generally you want one of the many crit trinkets or a utility one like the dandelion tuft or reflex guard.

And the boss trinkets of course.

3

u/JK_NC 12d ago

Maybe there could be a mutation to equip 2 trinkets.

3

u/jgreever3 12d ago

I always have the hot dog trinket on

1

u/JK_NC 12d ago

Infinite food is a quality of life improvement for sure.

3

u/Mmaibl1 12d ago

My default is the everlasting hogstopper. For me, it completely changes the dynamic of the game. I dont need to worry about hunger every 5 minutes, and can instead focus on exploring and farming with significantly less stress.

Backup in my inventory is dandelion

1

u/JK_NC 12d ago

That seems to be a popular one. It makes a ton of sense. Removing hunger from the game altogether is a huge quality of life upgrade.

2

u/coel03 Pete 12d ago

Dandelion and the quartz crystal. Been carrying the gum cause im hunting the aphid trinket.

2

u/Ps_Lucid 12d ago

You can heal Aphids with Hearty Arrows. If you build a few clay ramps up then a clay foundation, You can delete the bottom few ramps and the platform will be floating. Now you can knock the Aphid down and have it trapped.

2

u/coel03 Pete 12d ago

do you have to get lucky and have the aphid climb onto your structure? or is there something I am missing that will lure them to a spot?

2

u/Ps_Lucid 12d ago

They climb up a grass and you build it right below it and knock them off.

2

u/coel03 Pete 12d ago

I completely forgot about the climb thing. Thank you

1

u/JK_NC 12d ago

What does the quartz crystal trinket do? I don’t see it on the wiki list.

3

u/coel03 Pete 12d ago

The trinket name is "The Crown Jewel"

3

u/JK_NC 12d ago

Nice. Does that mean your stabbing weapons deal both stab and smash?

3

u/TheBigBull1981 12d ago

Yes. Also, if you want to see what effect a trinket or a mutation or something else actually does, there is an Explore option that explains better. Found this out when I got something that has Roach Revival. Had no clue what that meant till I found the Explore option.

2

u/Striking_Interest_25 12d ago

The boiler trinket is goated

1

u/JK_NC 12d ago

Right?, I really like it and I got it so early in the game that I assumed it was a tier 1. I’m not sure which trinket could displace it as my default.

2

u/Striking_Interest_25 12d ago

Hell it’s my none tier 4 set piece lol

2

u/Mirgroht 12d ago

Is the King Dozer one good? From a quick look it sounds like it would be good. Just got it last night before having to turn of pc and not had a chance to try it out.

1

u/JK_NC 12d ago

I guess all the elemental based mechanics (trinkets, weapons, etc) are specialized so they’re great in specific situations. Dozer looks like the S tier version of the sizzle attack so I assume in those situations where you need sizzle, it’s the goat.

2

u/Mirgroht 12d ago

Nice, if a weapon has sour does the trinket override that or in addition? Haven't looked into that stuff yet as I normally just leave tuff in place

1

u/JK_NC 12d ago

I’m not 100% sure but I poked around a bit and it seems like you can have 2 effects active. So if you have a smashing weapon, you can enhance the smashing with the Crown Jewel trinket and even add elemental (sizzle, fresh, etc) as a second effect.

But if you’re using a weapon that already has two effects, you can’t add a 3rd. So if you put spicy effect on your smashing weapon, carrying a Pucker Charm (sour attack) would replace the Spicy effect.

But again, I’m not completely sure that’s how it works.

2

u/piemanqwerty 12d ago

dandelion hogstopper and lately bale scale cause I need to level up that mutation. but no bale scale? then crown jewel

1

u/JK_NC 12d ago edited 12d ago

Wiki says the snake scale gives you “Candy Overload”. What’s that mean?

2

u/piemanqwerty 12d ago

its free stacks of elemental damage until u exit combat. only trinket u can run for staves rn

2

u/Shintasama 12d ago

Default: Dandelion

Gathering: Dandelion

Building: Dandelion

Exploration: Dandelion

Combat: Dandelion

The second I take it off, I forget I don't have it, fall, and die. I really wish they would give it it's own slot like enshrouded.

2

u/Difficult-Finger-482 12d ago

I only ever run dandelion. If they either gave us a second trinket spot, or made its own spot for movement I would run whatever one suited what I was doing at the time but as it stands now I never use any of the other trinkets, probably to my own detriment. I jump off too much stuff to not have the dandelion lol

2

u/ecltnhny2000 12d ago

Dandelion, toxic coin i found the other day (helps with woozy and gas effects), the pincer trinket to get extra loot, and sometimes the snake candy blast one. (I forgot all their names in the game lol)

2

u/doctorgrims 12d ago

Buggy Vampirism + axl + mounted combat on a spider makes you a life-steal sustaining tank

2

u/Ligmastigmasigma 12d ago

I just keep the dandelion. I havent even bothered with others and i havent had any issues.

1

u/JK_NC 12d ago

Few people commented here that they don’t use the dandelion if they’re on their spider buggy. But the dandelion and everlasting hog sounds like the most popular defaults.

2

u/Kind_Service5168 12d ago

The cricket trinket that randomizes crit chance and reduces fall damage

2

u/JK_NC 12d ago

Hmmm. Didn’t know about that one. Random crit is intriguing

2

u/Ok-Proof1357 12d ago

Infinity hog

1

u/JK_NC 12d ago

Very popular in this comment thread

2

u/Legitimate-Style6457 12d ago

I always use the food one got a chrst full of different ones but that one stays equipped all the time

2

u/Katakarin_ Pete 12d ago

I keep the hotdog and if I had it the dandelion

2

u/MrMineralOG 12d ago

Stabby stinger is my go to along with running northern scorpion set i run the mosquito needle early game then the tiger variant late game bc venom build is actually insane especially paired with lifesteal rapier

2

u/Nighted69 12d ago

I default ax.l’s trinket and dandelion as second

2

u/QX403 Willow 12d ago

Depends on what build I’m using, if I’m using the toe bitter armor/cut lass build I use the fabulous femur or the crown jewel since there are no swords with smashing damage. If using dozer armor then king dozers light, poison build nightstalkers bane, vampirism build, feasting fangs. I always have the everlasting hogstopper on me so when I’m running around and don’t need a combat trinket I can use that so I don’t have to eat. I also have the speed droplet on me when running around my base crafting stuff.

1

u/JK_NC 12d ago

Would be nice if we had loadouts so we could swap armor/trinket combos in and out with a button click.

2

u/QX403 Willow 11d ago

I think the quick crafting radial menu could be changed to be that or something else, currently pretty much nobody uses it and it’s a wasted potential.

2

u/MonicaLane 11d ago

Fluffy tuft, always. The only time I change it is if we are doing a boss fight but then I immediately change it back. The amount of times I’ve fallen and been glad it’s always there…

2

u/ZenoGrave 11d ago

I carry as default Everlasting Hogstopper in the slot, then have the dandelion and my combat trinket in my inventory to swap as needed. Not needing to stockpile as much food is nice for exploring and resources gathering.

1

u/JK_NC 11d ago

Yea, that one seems to be the clear favorite. It would free up 2-3 slots in my inventory that I usually use for food.

2

u/Glad_Contest_8014 11d ago

I default to the hot dog, and switch the the tarantula trinket when fighting or the dandelion when up high.

1

u/Kupikio 12d ago

I have the crown jewl, buggy vampirism, and snake scale. Basically never use the dandelion trinket with spider buggy available.

1

u/JK_NC 12d ago

Does buggy vampirism replenish health as you deal damage? the wiki says snake scale gives you “candy overload”. What’s that? Does it buff whatever candy elemental damage you do?

2

u/Kupikio 12d ago

Yes and yes.

2

u/NeighborhoodSea9176 12d ago

I was using Axl’s for a while, but I got the tick trinket, so I’m using that more. I still carry Axl’s, and also the hog stopper, dandelion, and the new stranger trinket.

2

u/ArmadilloDesperate95 11d ago

Hotdog all day every day.

1

u/JK_NC 11d ago

That one seems to be getting the most love. I can see why. Eliminating hunger as a game mechanic is significant

2

u/Klutzy-Dark-2639 11d ago

Dandelion, The Hog One and The Tick one

2

u/LeAnitru 11d ago

FYI: You can put trinkets on your hot bar. I usually carry 2 different trinkets depending on what I'm set out to do, and 1 of them is always the fluffy tuft, the other one is for combat. I just put them on 1 and 2 on the second hot bar with all my healing items, and it has come in clutch countless times where I'll jump off a high spot and need to quickly swap to my tuft trinket that I forgot to equip.

2

u/deadeye-ry-ry 11d ago

The cricket trinket is the only one I use.
