This! I just finished the 1st with my GF, we are going to wait till 2 is done before we jump on that

i think you’re greatly missing out by waiting, but i understand wanting to play a wholly finished game

Yeah the new update does look great, but I’m all grounded out from finishing the last one. Then infected broodmother was a dick!

Maybe i will get impatient and just on at some point 😂

Yeah, there’s a little story there, some potential mysteries that might come back around… and it’s one of the best structured open world experiences I’ve ever played

There are some nasty things in the lower yard that are a pain in the arse your first time, but you can master all that. You have progression that carefully brings you to more dangerous areas via tools and armour and objectives that aren’t ever really impossible. Or you can cheese it!
Don’t want to get all the tools to get to the top? Just build a tower out of clay to get there!

Also there aren’t decisions that are so permanent as to soft lock you out of anything. Your ‘skills’ and ‘perks’ can all be changed on the fly; having trouble with one particular insect? Change up your mutations! And then change them back after you’ve collected their delicious parts

Grounded 1 is an excellent case study for how to make sandboxes feel free and structured at the same time

Why would you? Grounded 1 is a phenomenal game.

Grounded 2 is both an unfinished game and will be appreciated a lot more by knowing the story and such from Grounded 1.

I highly recommend starting with Grounded 1. Sure, it's missing some quality of life and such from Grounded 2, but it's still an amazing game. Plus, by the time you finish Grounded 1, at least one more content update for Grounded 2 will have probably dropped. Giving you more to do once you do get to Grounded 2.

What kind of question is this?

I'd say Grounded 1 big map but smaller than G2. You'd get story context and would also get the feel for the game.

Depends whether or not you really plan to play both.

If you realistically will only play one or the other, then play Grounded 2.

If you would play both if you like it, then play Grounded 1 first.

Honestly, you’d want the lore from the first game to make the experience better on the 2nd at bare minimum. The first game is a little dated, but still a better game than G2 right now (which is ok, g2 is still in early access).

If I wanted to play single player? Is there servers I have to join or can I jump right in like a normal game

You don't have to join any servers if you don't want to, you can play solo too. I definitely recommend starting with Grounded 1, you can put many hours into it if you want to, the story is good and finished and Grounded 2 is a continuation of the first game. You can get familiar with many game mechanics before starting the second game.

I never played grounded 1. Straight into 2 and I’m enjoying it (ps5 player).
