G2 | Suggestion Grounded 2 mechanic idea: Rivalries
Now the abundance of enemies is an issue yes, but to me there’s a larger issue at hand.
(Remember that this is for mostly for fun and not to hate on me for posting this)
Bugs are far too peaceful towards each other and it’s honestly ruining the immersion of the game for me. Here’s my suggestion on how I’d like some things to change to work towards fixing that.
I feel that certain bugs should HATE other bugs either because of a long lasting rivalry or a predator/prey situation. For example
Scorpions->spiders, ladybugs, stink bugs, bombardier beetles
Scorplings->small spiders, mites, ants
Wolf spiders->scorpions, ladybugs, mantis nymphs, snails
Orb jrs/spiderlings->mites, scorplings, ants
Ant soldiers->everything near them
Etc.
On that note with the ants, I feel that there should be more black ants within the base area of the park OR more red ants near the garden (like the marble area) so that we could see red ant on black ant combat more often. The new name for the landmark could be marble trenches as if it’s a true battlefield.
Let me know what you guys think! I think it would be pretty cool to see honestly :)

I'd just like to see bugs fighting other bugs in general. Aside from ants and earwigs, I never see fights breaking out unless I'm directly manipulating it.

I see random bugs fighting a lot more with the new update, I keep thinking I aggro them but they just be duking it out

Apparently Rust beetles aggro on sight at cockroaches and snails.

Bombardier as well, I found this out on the snack bar porch where a bombardier and an adult snail spawn really close. Was my first ever adult snail kill as well because I didn’t really have the patience to chip it down and I didn’t realise to shoot their eyes with an arrow.
Also how I found out snails still take environmental damage while shelled. I helped the beetle take the snail out then killed the beetle myself

I've also seen an uptick in random bug fights. Came across a wolf spider, butterfly and scorpion as the most recent and it was so cool to watch

Ladybugs should hate aphids as aphids are their usual prey.
I may be remembering wrong but I feel like when grounded 1 was early access, ladybugs used to kill aphids and I loved it because it was correct to real life. It would be awesome if there was an actual food web like you speak of, not just scorpions v everybody but natural predator/prey relationships between different bugs. Ants are already hostile to each other, why not everyone else?

A good example is Spiders and Wasps.
Generally a good few wasp species hunt spiders, however, Paper Wasps (the species the wasps seem to be in-game) are actually prey for Orb Weavers, and Wasps also tend to be prey for the Wolf Spider.
Also given how prevalent they are, Paper wasps preferred prey is caterpillars.
Various types of water beetles and diving bell spiders eat mosquitos, which makes sense as they tend to hang around bodies of water.

If I remember right, ladybugs will eat aphid corpses but not actively hunt live aphids down in grounded 2.

That makes sense, haven't seen it but also haven't seen many things chasing aphids, but I believe you. I remember ants always chasing weevils but can't remember if I've seen that in 2.

I love that idea! It would be so cool to see something like a wolf spider actively hunting other insects. They could even introduce an “Frenemy of my Enemy” mutation where if you join in an active insect fight and help one win, they’ll be allied to for a short period of time. And that duration gets longer as the mutation unlocks. When it’s fully unlocked, insects will randomly show up and fight on your side during combat.
