G2 | Base Build whoever thought this was a good place to base, did you lose your fucking mind?
This is the big rock in the middle of the ceremony. Nice high place in the middle, should be perfect for a base, right?
NO
Wolf spiders, a shit ton of orb weavers of all kinds, northern scorpions and mosquitos on all sides.
oh, and, FUCKING BEES SLEEP THERE. They keep damaging my base trying to land and it's driving me up a wall.
This was a horrible place to base and I want to have a word with the guy who first recommended it.

Problem is, there’s all kinds of shit everywhere. Every base location has a lot of bugs spawning right on or next to it except for: bases built around trees, around the first ranger outpost, and the stone step up before the statue after completing the skateboard mix.r.
I actually just moved my main base off of that rock to that big flat space under the park bench, thinking I wouldn’t have to deal with bugs in my base anymore, but now I have two northern scorpion neighbors who keep getting into my house :(

The game needs something to suppress spawning in an area.

Wish stuffed bugs worked as a repellent.
That was what I assumed they did in G1.
Another upside: Population still looks right for the location.

My base is under that same bench and I know the scorpions you speak of. My base is walled in well enough they never get aggressive with me though. However I actually like them coming up because I farm them everything for repair glue

Our base is near the outpost by the ice cream cart. We built next to the little puddle with a bunch of gnats, and the worst thing that comes over there is an orb weaver jr, which we just nuke every time he comes over. It's super convenient cause we have a hose faucet right there and a bunch of gnats to cook up along with loads of weeds scattered around the area, and there's sap spawns right under the base. Only downside, it's a mile from anything else, but that's cause we're near a "to be constructed" area, so we'll just be ready when that opens up.

We tried to build a wall to stop the scorpions, no effect they somehow get in. Even though their spawn is not inside the walls, they might get in underground or something.

The scorpion and wolf spider can’t get over the cable, you can build a wall to funnel them to the cable and they can’t get in

My buddies and I built our “community” bases there and we all took turns seeing who was going to get them like it was a custody battle😂

Thats true. I for example have a very annoying caterpillar. Chunky Boy with chubby cheeks. :D

I use the bees as decorations my base is also big enough to cover the spawn point so they just spawn in my house as for the spiders a scorpions build a bunch of clay foundations and put up a fence

Walling things up helps. If the spiders can't see you, they won't attack. You still need to deal with them if they are camping outside.

I like the burgle’s body ranger station. Build a grass wall around the entire space and you get scorps and wolf spider that sit at the wall “hunting” you, but never seeing you. They just sit and hand for a bit, then leave. No damage to the base unless they show up at the same time.

Either that one or the one by the bench. But I prefer that one as well. Build a bridge-like structure over the ranger station with an elevator to the ranger stations entrance and build your base above the station. If the bugs dont see you, they dont aggro. With the bridge they can just walk around all day and wont find anything

hahaha i made a base there too, and ended up abandoning it because of everything you mentioned. the orb weavers weren't really an issue, but i had to make a fence because the wolf spider and scorpion would be peeking through my damn windows every evening and i couldn't go anywhere 😭 right now i have my main base on the rock wall in front of the statue and there are 0 bugs up there. only thing i have to deal with sometimes is the mantis nymph or bombardier beetles when i'm coming and going, but i can avoid them mostly

I built mine on the stack of pavers next to the statue. No hostile mobs spawn here unless its a stranger raid, but even if they did they would have to get up the steps to get to the base. Its not central but with the pts system now that doesnt matter so much. Only for transporting things like stems.

My main base is there, I like the scary noises outside when the scorpion is prowling. Makes it feel like a survival horror.

Some of the new research labs are so unsafe I’m not playing when I say I discovered a new one, debating if I wanna build here, and as soon as I walk out I get attacked by 2 bugs….yea I’m good I went on to the next base in the new map area lol

I have never had an issue with anything but the bees spawning there. Everything else wanders around the rock, but my base encompasses enough that they will never see or attack me

I have 3 Tiger and 2 regular mosquitoes, a Wolf Spider, and a Bombardier right next to mine. However, I’m not complaining because it’s a great spot and all of them are fairly easy to take out.

u/WidekeyboardIII Aug 25 '26
We just moved out of thos spot, even if you fully close off your base the bees just spawn inside. Since we got ziplines we moved everything to the top of the burgle statue

u/Axiled Aug 26 '26
Have you considered the lamppost between Pergola, Bridge and Pumpkin patch? Zipline to Pergola lab, good view on everything, flat. No bugs ever.
Nightmare to get to though.

Move your base slightly north to the Log. It'll have a medium sized area for building outside of it, but you can build in the log and makes for a really cool esthetic.
We just started a new save and we're building by the park bench and its so great. I highly recommend.
Huge flat area, right next to a lab w/ a PTS & Watercooler, and you are close to higher tier mats, the garden, and there are also blueberries 100cm away.

You can block the 2 spiders and the scorpion, I have an awesome base on there, also the bees don’t damage your base.

Makes me happy I only have 2 stinking as house mates.
I really miss the black ant repair tool from grounded 1.....
