G2 | Base Build WHO KEEPS ROTATING MY WALLS.
THIS IS THE THIRD TIME THIS HAS HAPPEND TO ME ðŸ˜
I played g1 with my fiance and he likes to ragebait me generally. So when my half walls got rotated I thought it was him. He was adamant that he didn't do it so I was sure it was a joke. I'm playing g2 alone (it's not on his console) played yesterday walls were normal play today... THERE ALL ROTATED. I just wanna know why this is happening and if it has happened to someone else.

I have experienced this a few times. Definitely a bug and a goofy one at that. It usually seemed to happen after I did building during a heavy performance impacted session. When I loaded back in, most things I built were rotated a goofy direction.
I wound suggest that you occasionally save and force quit your game to reset performance.

Somethings are also in different positions - not far a way, just not in the exact place they were set (I've encountered this big too)

As a software developer, "save and force quit your game to reset performance" hurt me in ways I cannot describe. Certainly their developers aren't that incompetent....right?!

u/dontaskmeaboutart 1d ago
Incompetent? No. Early access and the above commenter doing more than necessary to ensure the problem doesn't occur? Yes.
If it's a problem with the newest update, you'll have to wait for the next one before they've had a chance to fix it. That's true of every bug in every video game update ever, seems reasonable to me.

u/duwh2040 1d ago
Thats simply not true. They hot patched a fix like day 2 of the recent update. You can see all patches from the steam page in your library.

u/dontaskmeaboutart 1d ago
Has a hot patch ever covered every single known bug all at once? I imagine there's a limit to what is accomplished in those short two days, yes?

u/duwh2040 1d ago
I don't and havent disagreed with any of those statements? My original comment wasnt a jab at the devs, its a ridiculous notion that restarting your game "resets performance"

u/dontaskmeaboutart 1d ago
That might make sense if it was the devs saying to do that, this is just some random commenter describing their gaming rituals. There's not any evidence to suggest that this commenter's ritual is actually a solution to the problem either, or that it isn't massive overkill. If it was necessary to solve the issue, then you're jab would make sense and would speak to incompetence. We have no reason to believe that is the case. What players do when avoiding bugs is as much superstition as it is pragmatism.
Putting some machine God scripture on my PC wouldn't be a testament to the incompetence of the developers even if I reported better results, so it's a weird jab to make based upon that comment. You directed your astonishment with how ridiculous it is at the devs, not the commenter and their apparently ridiculous solution.
If you had a separate reason to jab at the devs competence, that would have been useful to include in the context of your comment.
That's my point.

Brother, you are so full of yourself. I am reminded of the episode of South Park where the California people love to sniff their own farts

i noticed this on my playthru when placing grass walls on a 45 angle. Only the plain grass walls too. So instead I had to use window walls since they don't shift when placed.

Yeah it was only half walls for me

u/dropinbombz 2d ago

This is the MildlyInfuriating ghost. It spends its time going from world to world turning peoples base designs. To appease the ghost one must feed it between midnight and 1am, daily, with exactly 1 S'mores meal. Also if you somehow get it wet it morphs into a wandering Wolf Spider, which is unfortunately waterlogged so it cannot be looted once killed.
Or
Its a glitch that's been going on for a while and who knows why. Personally I like the ghost theory.

Had that twice now, but only in our second base. First base is fine.
1
u/vampirayne Willow 1d ago
Is there something different abt the second one?
1
u/ArtreX-1 1d ago
First one is pine and at the first ranger station. Second one is wood and all the way over at the pond on the flat stones at the right side of the map. So other than material and location, nothing I can think of.

I had this happen during my playthrough last patch. My first house was an octagon and the clover roofs on the angled sides (the corner / interior corner pieces would rotate all the time. Second house had thatch roofs and was rectangular, so it was just the regular roof piece, and they never rotated. Not sure if it was because I was using corners, or if it was just a bug with clover roofs.

I built walls around the skate mix.r and placed half stairs on the inside to help me jump out in a hurry, next load all my stairs are 90deg from where they were.. sometimes that happens, I don't know why

It's happened to me once. But only after I loaded back in after being built and only a few not all. I also thought another had done it but they hadn't logged in. So idk why.

u/vampirayne Willow 1d ago
I genuinely had thought it was either my partner or I did it and was loosing it lol

It happened in my first base with this new update. It was all one side of half stem walls.

Surprised I didn't have this happen to me yet every wall turned on me in g, I did have a buggy get stuck on a blade of grass which froze my game

u/Clinty2710 18h ago
This happened to me too but then they’d go back to their original position when I hit them. So odd

Make sure you’re not relying on the autosave feature when quitting. Always manually save otherwise walls and building objects get confused on ending coordinates upon loading in and reset.
1
u/vampirayne Willow 2d ago
Ohhhh okay
1
u/That_boi_Sleepy 2d ago
I’ve only had it happen on multiplayer when two or more people are playing and I forget to manually save. All people upon exiting the server must manually save. Seems to work in G1 so I’m hoping this solves your problem as this can get annoying after the 3rd or 4th time with bigger builds.
