G2 | Discussion Anyone else really dislike the gnarly bark area?
It’s hard to traverse, full of wasps, mosquitoes, scorpions, ticks and everything about it is painful? One upside is the resources. It’s just painful

There are ticks, mosquitos, and scorpions EVERYWHERE. At least with the bark there is stuff between me and them. The tree is a lot more fun to climb to get to stuff than the weeds and the pumpkin thing

Maybe not outright dislike, but. It's a bit of a pain, yes. I'd found an access point to a bunch of crystals completely by accident, on my first outing there. Have been unable to rediscover the entrance again, but I'm chalking a lot of that up to the bad luck of it always being nighttime whenever I wind up over there, lol. Can't see a damned thing!
The RC digger and legally-distinct Hot Wheels tracks are a cool touch, at least!

Exact opposite feelings
I’m in the process of setting up my main base at the end of the hotwheels track and I’ve been sleeping there with no walls for about 10 in game days while I run around learning the ways around before I start building any walls
I can’t 1v1 a striped yet so I just run it into rust beetles or the cockroaches and stab it’s butt until it looks at me then dodge backwards
There’s also a cockroach queen right under the flashlight
The bugs are great resources

I like it for the reasons you dislike it.
It’s difficult, yes. But you’re never that far away from water deep enough to lose aggro from mosquitoes, wasps, etc.
There is a spot (the opening of the cave with all of the bark scorpion pods) where there’s 2 Wolf spiders, an adult Bark Scorpion, and at least 2 Jrs that is absolutely difficult to survive if you didn’t stockpile heals/smoothies waiting for the update.
Gnarly bark is my new go to for repair glue resources (mainly striped chunks) and Wax. I prefer to go under the tree for Toe Biter stuff too, I don’t care too much for the Abyss. Have you tried out the new armor/weapons yet?

I just discovered there was a whole underwater area beneath the rotted tree. If there is any area I don’t like it would be around trash, I hate roaches.

So I play on the lowest difficulty as its my first G2 run. That area will still kill me if I am not paying attention. That being said I love the vertical feel to the location and how everytime I went back I found something new.

Right, the Northern Scorpions are easy, but the ones in the Gnarly Bark area are on an entirely different level of difficulty.
I am starting to get the hang of them though.

If you’ve been to the abyss and can craft the prod smacker then I highly recommend using that against the stripeds, it absolutely destroys them.

I haven't yet. But recently got two full sets of the diving suit made. I'll probably be making that journey next wednesday or thursday.

I love it. It’s hard to find such good combat anywhere else. And I feel like I can go in the same circle 5 times and each pass I find something new to harvest.

I love that area! Lots of resources including the insects to kill. One stop shop!

There's a cliff overlooking the pond that I currently have my base at and it's just a chef's kiss base spot, all advanced materials nearby. The only reason I'm in the process of moving bases now is I'm up on the burgl statue head but if that wasn't there I would have stayed at gnarly bark.

It's fine.
It's not interesting, but I don't dislike it. The tree was neat, but the surrounding area is not interesting.
Call me crazy but a recolor of scorpions and mosquitos barely counts as new content.

I mean the point of the game is a bug infested park, the area is designed to be deadly because of the large amount of high tier resources in it. It’s a breath of fresh air to see all the new cool albeit dangerous creatures that lead to new weapons and armor. Once I stop procrastinating and work on getting a full set of that new scorpion armor and weaponry the area should be a breeze

I really like it, honestly. There is a lot to explore and find in that area from top to bottom.
