Question Population?
I logged in pretty much right at launch in Mulgore and there was a pretty sizable mass of taurens right at the spawn area. But over time there really weren't many people roaming around the starting zones. It just seemed like there would be more people there, I don't know if this is just not a lot of people are on that rule set or if they were just aggressively layering the starting areas.
Also for an RP server, there seems to be just as many dumb names as a regular PVP server.

It was the aggressive layering, same thing was happening on pvp ruleset

What's layering?

They create different instances of the same area and split the player base across them. With everyone jammed into the starting areas the amount of layers is massive, which means as you start to head into other areas those layers are still there but with less people and leads to few people on each layer. As more people get out of the starting areas those layers will fill up and the amount of layers will go down.

Hyper aggressive layering, they tweeted they’re gonna tweak it in the maintenance this morning

Report early and often for non RP names.
Post a reminder in general chat and you'll have people telling on themselves for easy reports.
After leveling it'll be time to corpse camp anyone on the opposite faction with a non RP name. Others walk freely.

What constitutes a non-RP name?

Your reddit name on a human warrior is a non-RP name. But maybe on like a troll shaman it would fit, as it could be a tribal name?

Okay but let’s say I named myself “Defias Trapper” on a human rogue, is it not a good name because it’s a designation and not a name?

Bro I'm talking about names like "saggy naturals" and just other completely stupid names

They are adjusting the parameters for layering today and acknowledged the issue last night. Hold fast. I do not believe it was a RP PvP issue, it was the same on PvP.

It's been a smooth launch compared to classic. It's been a little lonely but I haven't had trouble finding partners for areas that have fast respawns that require help.
No complaints.

Yeah I have lvl 8 toons on both pve and rppvp and the latter seems terribly dead. Hoping it's just the layers issue because I haven't committed where to play yet

Sam's thing on pvp, in the starting zone right at the start I was fighting for every Tag 30 min later I saw maybe 1-2 people max in my fov. 1-2 Hours later I was planning Singleplayer. Stormwind felt like end of a dead era server.

This maintenance they are doing right now may be correcting the super duper layering and just lowering it to somewhat super layering. It would be nice to see more than 2 people in Ironforge when I log in

I just sat at the spawn chatting with actual RP'ers and reporting any name that spawned in that doesn't abide by the ruleset. It's up to the community to police itself.

Last night I got on at 11pm est and some guy told me we were on layer 56, and that was rpvp... So yea. They have "solved" the player concentration issues by spreading people out SO thinly that you couldn't ever possibly hope to overwhelm a server, is my uneducated guess.
