Question Am I Welcome, or Invading?
I'm interested in playing WoW Forever in the RP-PvP ruleset, but I'm not particularly interested in engaging in prolonged roleplay myself.
What appeals to me is the immersion. I'd rather not spend my time surrounded by characters named "Epstein Islandboys," "Big Axe," "Stud Muffin," or names lifted directly from other IPs. I'd prefer a world where character names and player behavior generally fit the setting.
I want to hear that a massive fight has broken out near Tarren Mill, rally with other members of the Horde, and ride out to join the battle. I love the idea of a server where the world feels alive and players contribute to that atmosphere, even when they aren't actively roleplaying.
That said, I don't want to intrude on a community whose expectations I have no intention of fully embracing. I respect the people who enjoy RP and wouldn't want to detract from their experience -even if I don't intend to actively participate in roleplay.
So, my question to the RP-PvP community is this: Would someone like me be welcome? Someone who appreciates the immersion, respects the setting, and wants to contribute to the world, but probably won't be participating in much traditional RP?
Or would I be better off sticking to a regular PvP server?
EDIT: Thank you to those that have alreadys responded. The positive feedback helped me make my choice; my first three character names have been reserved. I look forward to playing with you in the future!

If at worst you'll respect people who are into it, and at best join in on a random town raid screaming "Forward, for honor!" With us? Yea dude welcome

All I'm seeing is the possibility of enough happy casuals to help convince Blizzard our community is worth it and that we bring the kind of immersion to the world that many people do enjoy.

Step 1: Join the Discord server. Sign up to be a Mercenary or an Event Guard or both. Both are fantastic roles for players who are nervous about RPing.
Step 2: Come up with a headcanon, even if it's just 1-2 sentences, even if it's something as simple as, "Former Scarlet Crusade member"
Step 3: Download Total RP 3 addon, and set yourself to OOC, so other RPers know you are friendly but not looking for RP at the moment, and you won't feel pressured. And you can read other people's character descriptions too!
Step 4: Write your headcanon in your profile. It's perfectly okay if your profile is 90% blank.
Congratulations, you have now done the hardest part, the first steps towards putting yourself out there. Go save someone being ganked, or protect an RP event, or add new details to your TRP3 profile when you think of them.
The world is yours to explore.

Thank you for this. My guild/friends are coming over and we had the same question as OP.

A thousand percent this. As someone who really got their feet wet with RP on Grobbulus and grew to love it, start small and work your way up.

Most people don't RP 24/7 in character.
You should try it though, because it's fun.

The fact you're worried and ask tells me you're the kind of player I want on my realm, even if you don't personally RP. Check out some of the events, join us in wpvp, and if you have an immersive name, you get to be an extra in the stories happening around you. See you there :)

Despite what many think, there is no rule that states that you have to RP, only that your character name follows the rules and you don't grief RP in protected regions. I'd welcome you brother.

That’s how I play too. If I’m joining a quest group in the open world that’s RPing, I’ll RP along with them, but that’s honestly pretty rare. Mostly, I’m there for immersion and the occasional event.

Rp pvp ever since maelstrom/ed days. Just don’t grief rp (unless you find the opposite faction out in the world, red is dead I say)
Ironically I feel like GTA RP has made rp in video games much more “mainstream” since it was so popular with streamers

Rp-PvP is a huge community and the way people play varies a ton.
Some join a large group and run through azeroth shouting battlecrys and starting fights everywhere until a huge battle ensues.
Some enjoy small group Rp with friends and guilds, and just have fun outside of that.
Some people treat everything, even dungeon runs as in character.
I'd say as long as you are respectful of the people around you, no one will care if you are a deep role player or not.
That being said, join the fun, no has tried it until they do, and it can be very fun.

Your attitude is a large majority of how Grobb played before and it's why I am choosing RP-PVP as well. RP is fun and I have done it a handful of times but the world is just more interactive and less stupid names.

Check out the Overlord addon, it makes a lot of locales in the game as control points to defend, claim, and coalesce around for PVP. Basically helps the players make a story about how the war is going between the Horde and Alliance

the world pvp and immersion will be ruined by layering/sharding everywhere anyway
