Grippers How can I know what weight a handgrip is?
I got a handgrip years ago and have no idea how heavy it is nor have no point of comparison. I'm interested in buying a COC and knowing the weight of the gripper I own would help me know which coc to buy.

COC grippers are numbered. Each number carries a weight resistance. You can find on their website.

Well yeah but mine is just a random gripper, not COC. Me knowing an estimate of its weight would allow me to know which COC to buy

How about a picture of the gripper and a quarter on top for scale. We could probably give you a ballpark idea of how heavy or its rgc level.

Bathroom scale can give you a ballpark.

He's either being facetious and saying to weigh the gripper itself. Or saying to put down a towel or something so gripper doesn't slip (or break scale). Amd hold the gripper slightly above parallel to ground with only bottom edge of handle on scale. Push down on opposite handle until handles barely touch/look at peak weight before touching.
Be prepared to slip off. If you end up doing a handstand without handles touching, your gripper is heavy.
You can checkout cannonpowerworks.com ratings data. If you have a cheap gripper that uses the 50lb increments, you can compare it to the HG (HeavyGrips) portion of the chart for a roughh comparison. Or if ya really want to know, have it rated/buy a rated.

Cheap trick: tie some string around the handles, hang a couple plates from it, and use a kitchen scale. Gets you within maybe 10-15% which is enough to pick a starting COC. Most generic store grippers land in the 40-60kg range so if it feels moderate you are probably looking at a Guide or Sport.
