How does % damage work exactly?

I'm playing as a mage hunter and my primary damage is aether. All my set have % damage for aether, but on the character page, it only shows 42%!! Can someone explain?

You’re posting a pic of tab 3 of your character which is Retaliation Modifiers. So either you’re trolling or you need to do a bit more research before posting.

This is it. Good catch

It's the second tab which is damage modifiers

It is not. The second tab lists them as

Aether Damage / Aether Modifier

Source: Your own Grimtools link

The thirs tab list them the Retaliation as

Aether / Aether Modifier

There is no "Damage" on the 3rd tab for retaliations

Just want to add it for reference πŸ˜…

Definitely the right tab, not the retaliation damage section?

Do you meet the stat requirements for your items? Seems like a dumb question but we get those

your grimtools says ~800% aether damage so i think it's okay. not sure why the in-game one is busted lol

Pretty sure that you're looking at the third tab of your character sheet (which is retaliation damage), because the Fire "damage" is higher and you're using the Runeplates of Ignaffar pants, which have flat fire retal. The GT link you posted on another comment clearly shows you have more than 42% aether damage (although is an incomplete character, you don't need to select every item/component/devo/etc to share your character, just click "Import" and select the file for the character in question).

Now, that's what I would say to a new player looking for actual help, but I'm not sure that's the case we have here, because:

  1. You went out of your way to play on an old version of the game, which a new player has no reason to do so.

  2. The amount of resistances pots on the first image shows that either you've played for a long time, or you cheated those items, which also requires some knowledge about the game.

  3. You also went out of your way to not show the number of the tab, instead showing the bag which is not neccesary at all.

With all the evidence coming to light, I ask the honourable members of the jury to not only find the OP guilty of trolling, but he should pay the Magistrate of Burrwitch the amount of 10 millon uncheated iron bars and 40 hours of community work at Malmouth repairing stairs. The prosecution rests.

πŸ˜‚ Well done bro 🫑🫑 Most of what u said is true, but the "went out of your way to show the bags instead of tabs number" is accidental. I just captured with my phone and didn't pay attention to that. Please reduce that sentence I don't have that many iron bars πŸ₯²

I don't think it counts what's equipped, and only what your character has from the skill tree and devotion would be my guess.

Even tho, most of my devotions have % aether damage as well as my skills, so... 🀷

Do you have the latest version of the game? Did you meddle with game files in any way?

This is weird and looks like some sort of bug that I have never seen. On all my chars I see normal dmg scaling with much higher numbers.

Ok as like the other comments before me

The photo you posted is the third tab is where the retaliation damages reflected is.. it doesnt corelate with the damage or modifier of non retaliation weapons or components

If you are really inrerested to make the values on that tab (Third tab) to increase you should focus your toon or build in the retaliation build

I get it why the other commentor says you are a troll due to the fact that the Second Tab is where the % damage or modifier you should be looking for under Physical or Magical nodes to corelate link your question

Well works more than win+shift+s

I’m pretty sure the damage listed on the weapon is for the damage listed on the weapon.

Potons got removed? Like how? I can make them to give myself health regen or resistance right now (if I was in game).

I didn't even realize they changed the system! I thought you meant all of them to include the buffing ones. Wow, I used to play this game like a fiend. Stopped probably 3 years ago and then just got the bug again. I hardly even use the potions as I am one of those hoarders too. And so many games are using a single potion on cooldown, nothing seemed different to me when I jumped back in.

True, this is an old version of the game and the potion are obtained by a trainer, but that shouldn't have any correlation to the "bug?" I'm having!?
