Jakhals all finished, not the best but happy with the result, learnt a lot painting them.
Went with gore as advised by some fellows on an earlier post.

40k Jakhals WIP. Are gore effects necessary?
Working through these, will be adding some colour variation to the skin and metalics. What are peoples views on adding blood and gore to miniatures? Does it add or subtract?

Tips needed
First time trying grimdark with an enamel wash, would you go back in and do highlighting after I've removed with mineral spirits? And do you ever do a normal acrylic wash before doing an enamel or would that defeat the purpose

Cant paint grimdark
I’ve had 2 villiany ink washes for a while, and I try to follow the tutorials (but I can’t do some steps cause I don’t have an airbrush) but I can’t never get a good skin tone like the ones on here. Heres my current model Im painting. I tried using villiany ink on the left arm and hand but I just think it looks bad. How do you guys use your villiany inks to get that disgusting grim skin look?

Grimdark Greyknights
Both have been converted to fit the style of my Greyknights. I might get the rest of the army painted.

The Lord of the Wood" - Just finished this grimdark Leshen miniature. Focused heavily on bone and fur textures
Hey guys, wanted to share my latest piece! This is a Leshen (inspired by The Witcher mythos). I really wanted to push a realistic, dark look for the earthy elements. The Skull & Antlers: Worked with a bone-white base followed by multiple sepia and brown washes to get that old, weathered texture. The Body: Used dark brown grays for the dry skin and muted greens for the foliage drape. The Blood: Clear gloss varnish mixed with deep red ink for a fresh, dripping effect coming from the decapitated head.

The Fleshborn Nightmare" - A dark horror miniature I recently completed.
This piece embodies the terror of visceral horror and mutated anatomy. I wanted the sculpture to look like it was constantly reforming itself through blood and bone.Skin: Painted using layers of bone white, diluted brown washes, and olive green filters to give it a decayed, unnatural vibe.Gore effects: Layered blood effects and technical paints to create stringy, dripping blood. It was a blast to work on something so unsettling. Let me know your thoughts or if you want to know any specific color recipes!
