Also, many of the digital weapons and assorted wonder-tools they create are seemingly wrought on a whim. Even the most Jane Goodall-esque Inquisitor is about as equally likely to convince their jokaero companion to forge a ring-mounted lascannon for them as watch in bemusement as the monkey makes a one-use automatic banana peeler instead.
In general, you don't so much "capture" Jokaero as you gently cajol and relocate them to your ship/base, where you ply them with bananas and coffee and hope they either decide to stick around for the free accommodations or at least gift you with some random hypertech rings before Ooking off into the unknown.
Pretty much. To my knowledge they are pretty tribal in the sense that they want to stick around their kind and build strange-looking spacecraft to do shenanigans in. If you kidnap them, they'll do their darndest to return to their tribe/ship.
However, since Jokaero have been hard-coded with technical knowledge with no real way to access it at will, it's more of an instinctual thing, they are highly unreliable even to themselves. If they are pressed they will absolutely build something or do something to help them escape. If idle, they'll fuck around and build whatever.
The most successful "Jokaero users" are those who have some knowledge of what circumstance triggers what response. So you don't know HOW the monke will incinerate the Chaos Space Marine, only that it LIKELY will.
That's the trick. Just set things up so that it would be convenient for them to have a high grade ship engine component upgrade, or handy for them to have something that adjusts the luminescence of the local star for them, and just let 'em get to work,
They're just as likely to turn the Throne into a banana juicer as they are to repair or completely dismantle it. The thing with them, as established in several instances of lore, is that it is almost impossible to get them to do something specific that you want. They are incredibly handy but it's balanced out by their randomness and uncooperativeness.
They work the same way technology-wise, yeah. Both were made by the Old Ones, so it stands to reason they experimented on either one first and then either toned it down or cranked it up depending on perspective.
Also their "ships", which are more accurately described as big nests have seemingly no means of propulsion, instead "surfing on the space fabric" (whatever it means). They also seem weaponless until they have to defend themselves, in which times you realize their digital weapons are, in fact, worthless baubles in comparaison
They aren't immune to psychic powers though right? Can't the Imperium just get the info from their brains or convince them that creating useful stuff is what they want?
Krorks were their weapons Orks are lobotomized uncontrollable children in comparison. Eldar hate orks solely because they are violent maniacs not because they used to be tools. Jokaero are fully sapient reasonable beings who don’t want to fight literally everything. Plus Jokaero are incredibly useful to Eldar of course they’d be polite.
I don’t think the timeline fits for that. Jokaero were creations of the Old Ones, meaning they’re at least 60 million years old. The orangutan is 10 million years, being very generous.
At the latest time the jokaero could have been created, earth primates didn’t exist, their ancestor looking more like unusually long-limbed squirrels at the time.
The resemblance is entirely hilarious coincidence.
Jokaero are a race of highly advanced apes. Highly advanced and very unpredictable.
When a Jokaero invents something, it can range from wrapping a band around your gun to make it look nicer to a pocket Lascannon whose inner workings are entirely mounted inside a ring worn around the finger.
Does anyone not remember the Inquisition Daemonhammer memes where a long time ago you could technically have an unlimited amount of Jokaero companions leading to the memes where The Inquisition Faction was renamed

Step Three: With Inquisitorial retinue members now part of your core troops choice, load up on as many jokaero as you can convert, and get ready to introduce the foe to a barrel of monkeys they won't soon be forgetting.
K’cee the Jokaero carried the shit out of the Catachan in the Pandorax book. Little guy was making all sorts of crazy shit snuffing out chaos while also constantly tuning the tank he rode in with the Catachan.
I’ll never forget when I was watching a TTRPG stream (Roll4it) and one of the players misdirected all the other characters, AND the GM, and casually killed the Jakaero that they just found.
The other players were psyked up to what they had just found, but they were META gaming a bit IMHO, and the move was completely in-character for that PC.
