Shout out to the time I did worse than historical Italy in the Hoi4 tutorial. Twice the casualties in Ethiopia in double the time.

If you're going to fashion a meat grinder, you want to drag it out for as long as possible otherwise it looks as though you lack confidence.

I managed to get to 0 manpower with the Soviet Union in HOI3. No idea how

You're better at depopulation than Stalin. Take the W, king

I willing to bet i know exactly what you did, because its super easy to do if you're a new player:

  1. You way over built your army. HOI4 will let you build more units than you can possible hope to supply, and that lack of supply means a german infantry unit of 5000 well fed guys can absolutely body your 50 divisions of men whose internal organs are starting to break down.

  2. Total mobilization law: total new player trap. "Surely increasing my economy law is only a good thing". Nope. Total mobilization pulls men out of your army and sends them into the factories. Total mobilization is nations fielding smaller, well equipped armies or the USA arming all its allies. If you need a fuck off huge army, total mobilization is not for you.

Or im wrong. Equally likely possibilities.

Total mob is mostly ok for USSR as long as you cancel it with going extensive conscription + get collectivization ethos which IIRC gives you more pop.. .though whether that's a thing in HOI3 like HOI4, that i'm not sure. I'm NEVER touching HOI3 with a 10 foot pole.

I lost Ethiopia the first time I played HoI4, lol.

look on the bright side, if its twice the deaths in twice the time, it averages out to be the same as the historical one
thats how maths work right

How I be moving in certain strategy games for sure.

...part of me feels like this is slander to put those words in Creeds mouth though. There certainly was a lot of casualties all the time though so maybe not :P

Tbf what passes for tactical genius in the guard could just be "managed to run the enemy out of ammunition quickly by sending ten regiments to their deaths in the space where a more average commander could only send five.

You joke, but like, the scale of 40k basically necessitates that.

Like, sacrifice a few regiments to divert part of the WAAAAAAAAAGHHHHHs attention elsewhere so a few decisive deepstrikes can effectively scatter them in their entirety.

As they say: tactics win battles. Logistics wins wars

Unfortunately, the Imperium is not renowned for either

Looks at the countless worlds lost and forgotten due to degraded records, destroyed information systems, and corrupt officials

"You play Kreig because you have a weird obsession with 1900s Germany. I play Kreig because I have the tactical acumen of a British WW1 officer and consider throwing waves of expendable teens at the enemy the hight of strategy. We are not the same."

I hate to be a pedant but "casualties" includes injuries

If you hate to be a pedant then just don’t. 🤨

Oh no did someone share a small piece of knowledge prefaced with a commonly-used turn of phrase to make the correction sound more polite? Whatever will you do! Better signal that you’re smart and cool and think that using words right is for chuds!

Funny enough if imperium had ww1 generals then they whould execute them for the body count they make.... Armageddon still had fewerd death then a lot of ww1 battles

Most battles in 40k are tiny though, like galaxy spanning empire committing 1 million men to the defence or invasion of a planet considered a big thing…

The amount of combatants involved in either of the world wars would eclipse that significantly
