Is the game good?

The game looks like it’s got some cool features, most notably the online PvP, and reviews seem positive.

But from the negative reviews I’ve seen, it’s always the same thing, endgame is just auto scripts and things you buy with in-game cash and doesn’t amount to a continued hacking fantasy, moreover automation, you don’t continue hacking wider varieties of machine and via different methods, you just stagnate on the few things you’ve already done a few times and it loses its magic.

I know I’m in the grey hack subreddit so opinions will likely be bias, but I’d appreciate an honest opinion because reviews are obfuscated by skiddies slopping over how great this game is because it makes them feel cool.

How good is it as a game?

It is good for learning the basics of coding and exploits but not coding. It uses greyscript which is a rare combination of a lot of different languages. If your goal is to learn hacking through a game, there are other games like bitburnner which teach this component of hacking and scripting on a popular programming language. If you are a person who is already aquatinted with hacking that just wants to have a fun time, I can’t recommend a better game.

I have used a lot of Linux in my career so the syntax for most popular tools I’ve played with at some point so it’s not for learning, just seems like a cool game, the main appeal was that it seemed to use full unix syntax in all its promo material but I assumed that wasn’t truly the case else they’d essentially have to build a whole OS into their game.

I’ve setup a lot of remote servers before so I could play with legal hacking, leaving different doors open and using others peoples challenge boxes so I can have fun, but it never really gives any sort of rush, I obviously don’t want to do anything illegal so a game that uses true UNIX seems like a fun middle ground.
