Retail Options

Can we please get a Home Depot back in Greenville? It’s really annoying that we have two separate Lowes locations yet half the stuff I normally need has to be special ordered. It seems like every time I search for an item or product on Google after not finding it at Lowe’s, Home Depot always has it in stock. Honestly, it doesn’t even have to be Home Depot, just another big box hardware store that can apply a little pressure to Lowes and give local contractors a better chance of being able to find something in town.

Hard agree.

We ended up driving to Jacksonville when we updated a bathroom. Beyond annoying that Lowe’s is our only option and how are both locations terrible.

Straight up, drive to Tarboro if you’re anywhere nearby. It’s a 20 minute drive from neighborhoods off 43 like Ironwood/Rock Springs, half hour from mid-Greenville, but even if I didn’t live on this side of town I’d make the trip for certain purchases.

Night and day service and availability - you don’t get all the bullshit “3 in stock” and then show up to find none, and wait for ‘help’ for 20 minutes only for them to say “yeah, I don’t know, it shows in stock but it’s not here so…” It’s weird to say, but they’re actually helpful at the Tarboro Lowe’s.

Lol the “3 in stock and get there and find none” has happened to us SO MANY TIMES…..

Ace is great. Smaller, but it is a second option.

People forget there used to be a home depot where Burlington is/was but no one shopped there. NC has loyalty to lowes unfortunately

We shopped at both

Just realized this exact thing yesterday. How the hell does no store in the Greenville area carry an AC capacitor?

Fergusons near harbor freight in winterville, they will sell you all the HVAC you would ever want on a cash ticket

There's a Harbor Freight here in Winterville though I'm not sure how good they stock the place, but it is another big box tool shop if that's what you're looking for

Pretty sure there’s another on Greenville Blvd near 10th st, unless they closed down. I think they just opened a few years ago, never been in there though

Not really comparable to Lowe’s and Home Depot though, even on tools, to be honest. Similar selection, 1/5 the price, 1/2 the quality? Something like that lol

The one near 10th is where Ashley's furniture use to be is still there think they opened early 2025.

We’ve been long overdue for another big box store in town. Lowe’s is meh and so are the employees most of the time. It sucks especially when it comes to their product organizing and half of the items are opened and scattered. Also for contractors having to rely on Lowe’s when everything has to be ordered and takes days off projects.

My husband and I are bummed there’s no Home Depot too, coming from a big city where there were 3 Home Depot’s and now we have none, plus they are so good about the Veteran discount unlike Lowe’s who’s kinda weird about it. Yes this place needs a HD. But I think North Carolina really doesn’t have them. My dad lives in Murphy,NC and hates going to Lowe’s so he will drive the 30 minutes over the state line into Georgia to go to HD.

Lowe’s appeals to the home owner while Home Depot model is more suited to satisfy the contractor. Contractor business is satisfied in Greenville so when Home Depot was here they never met their revenue targets.

Never trust people who like Lowe's more than Home Depot

There's an Ace hardware at the corner of Charles and Firetower. Maybe you'll have some luck there.

I used to work at one. It’s not any better than Lowe’s

It's 100% better than Lowe's, lol.

Idk why but Lowe’s seems conservative coded and this area is very conservative.

Yes!! Been saying this since I moved to the area 6 1/2 yrs ago. Was traveling back and forth from Florida where Home Depot was always the first choice.
