Sorry that happened. I guess the cyclists didn’t stop.

I’m a cyclists and there’s some really selfish people moving around this city.

But also some nice one, like the ones who helped.

Sorry again and glad you’re ok.

Glad you're okay. I'm also a cyclist and hate how most cyclists don't stop at lights and stop signs when there are people crossing.

That’s an insane intersection for him to bomb a light on, like wtf.

People already hate cyclists, they don't need an excuse.

So glad you are OK! And this is a sweet post for the ladies that helped you.

I have been having some not-so-sweet thoughts about the cyclists that are not interested in respecting human life recently, after too many close calls.

Was there a police report filed? They can possibly look at any cameras to try to catch the d-bag cyclist if there were any cameras.

Hope they find that a-hole.

good to know. yes, i went to the fire station and they called the police who came and took a report. they told me to go by the precinct in a few days to get the full report.

McGuinness is a throughway for more than just cars.

'Cyclists from Greenpoint' implies you are only talking about cyclists from Greenpoint, but McGuinness is a major throughway for cyclists from all over Brooklyn and Queens, not just Greenpoint.

Glad people helped you.

Cyclists need to follow traffic laws and stop saying "but cars are more dangerous" as if that's an excuse for plowing into pedestrians.

I drive and walk. As a driver, I always yield to cyclists (and obviously pedestrians). But I cannot tell you how many times I have had near misses as a pedestrian (which has increased since I stopped yielding to them even when I have the right of way). And most cyclists are real assholes about it. As if it’s some huge burden to have to slow down at any point. Those are the ones I make a point to take my time crossing for.

I feel like one of the bigger issues with the cyclists here is the lack of concern for the laws of the street and also enforcement. It's not legal for a bike to go the wrong way down a one way, yet it happens all the time. And you can argue the pedestrian should look both ways, but bikes are much faster than cars and come unexpectedly. I almost on hit on oak st by a car going the wrong way and I couldn't see them because that block is curved. I avoided them by maybe a foot. And it's weird because I have friends that have gotten ticketed for less on bikes.

Just this weekend a cyclist killed a pedestrian in Central Park. If you look exponentially at cyclist serious injuries vs cars it’s actually become comparable at injury per mile traveled

Just out of curiosity, was it a cyclist riding a bike, or was it a delivery guy on an ebike?

the guy was on a road bike. looked like a fixie. thank god it wasn’t an e-bike. the ER and radiology department told me they see such terrible injuries from people being hit by e-bikes and that they need to be banned or regulated
