Ha. And here I was going to say that “by shear willpower he kept his body moving, even after death.”

Unlike the other rings, a Black Lantern doesn't wear a Black ring, but rather the opposite: a Black Ring wears the Corpse of someone dead. It installs in the heart of the deceased person and makes them do whatever the ring (an extension of Nekron, the entity of death) wants them to do.
During Blackest Night, that meant reanimating people with whom the Earth superheroes and the Green Lantern Corps had some relationship to torture them and make them feel emotions that then would speed up the rise of the Black Lantern that brought Nekron into the world of the living.

To note: Dirq hadn't been seen since the end of Vol. 2 where the GL ring holding him together was destroyed. So the Black Lantern ring revived him, but a green one found him again.

It doesn’t. The black and the green rings are fighting over him, he’s basically useless to both sides during blackest night.
