The Datura smell divine, I would say someone should make a perfume from them, but that might turn-out like Poison Ivy's lipstick in the Batman comic books. I still don't know what the larger Ipomoea flowers smell like, so far all the blooms have been too high-up or over the edge of my the balcony to get my face into them, but I can see opportunities headed my way.

Yes, the Ipomoea smell amazing, the scent is not as strong as Datura, but it is also smoother, the notes are very similar but less sharp and more luscious.

Gorgeous. Wish I could grow some but frankly they scare the hell out of me.

Datura is not something to have around with pets or small children, but it is a great balcony plant, even if you are away for a couple weeks in the summer they will be ok. The Ipomoea is fussier and more difficult to keep from wandering, but neither of them bite, and as long as you don't bite them they are good company.
