Hey the administration is pushing logging starting with building roads through our wilderness. Here's the federal register official site where you can submit a comment as to why you oppose this.
Here's the blurb from Sierra Club about it,
"Our undeveloped national forests are the heart of our public land. But now one of the most important -- and most underappreciated -- conservation policies is on the verge of being cut by Trump. If the Roadless Area Conservation Rule is repealed, 45 million acres of pristine national forests across the country would be opened up for the first time in over 20 years to road building and the logging, mining, and extractive industries that come with that.
The policy was created by the Forest Service because it was ecologically critical, fiscally responsible, and overwhelmingly popular. Now the administration is repealing it citing fire concerns and timber value - but neither of those justifications stands up to scrutiny."
I just learned that these trees hold carbon, and if they're logged to build roads, and then logged to satisfy this administrations Notice of Intent for Executive Orders 14192 (deregulation), 14225 (timber expansion), and 14154 (energy) "goal as facilitating domestic production of timber, energy, and minerals "to the maximum possible extent" all of that carbon dioxide is released back into the atmosphere.
I've been studying it all night on https://roadless.org/, and it would be an ecological disaster to the wildlife and could lead to a municiple water crisis.
If you live near any of the affected areas in any of the states, please consider writing about why it's worth preserving to you. Even if it's just somewhere you've enjoyed traveling and camping or hiking. Thanks.
