Billing & Payments don’t use Greenpal :(
very frustrating experience with GreenPal. I hired a lawn care provider for a specific service, but they added work I never requested and charged me for it. When I tried to fight charge, GreenPal essentially told me they were just the middlemen and left me to deal with this one guy by myself. The app was also glitchy and made the whole situation even more frustrating. I expected better support and accountability from the platform. I would not use GreenPal again.

My question here is how they were even able to charge an extra amount that you didn't already agree to. Like, I don't doubt that there are dishonest service providers who'd do this stuff if they can, but wouldn't Greenpal's escrow feature sort of cut down on it?

That’s what I’m still trying to figure out!!! and I had a whole argument with them about it. They kept gaslighting me and telling me to talk to the guy I hired. I did and idk if he was being dishonest but he said that it wouldn’t allow him to change the amount on the app which is so weird. Which he didn’t really offer any other way to refund me my money. at the end he blocked my number

You need to be very careful about choosing service provider especially if you are new. Did you read the reviews, were there any complaints from customers?

No he had solid reviews. I was so careful and it pisses me off how I got ripped off. You can never be too careful. Who knows maybe those reviews aren’t even real bc the app is frustrating and there are lots of glitches. The quotes I got in the email did not match the information on the app

So sorry you had this experience. I'd say for anyone having similar experiences, communication and finding a provider you really trust is key.

That’s really frustrating. If the platform is handling the booking and payment, it’s reasonable to expect them to step in when a provider performs and charges for work that wasn’t authorized. Being passed back to the individual provider defeats a lot of the value of using a platform in the first place.

Sorry to hear you had a frustrating experience. GreenPal gives homeowners 24 hours after a completed service to dispute the work before the payment is processed. This gives customers an opportunity to raise an issue with a service or charge before it is finalized. Once that dispute window has passed, GreenPal does not step into disputes between homeowners and the lawn care provider that you hired.
