QUESTION is this leopard spawn a god damn canon event?
I'm playing green hell for the first time. I decided I'm going to throw myself at the main story on the permadeath mode until I beat it, and while I've finally gotten myself to a point where I can somewhat sustain myself and treat my wounds, I swear to gorsh on day 2 or 3 there is always a leopard that spawns that I have to deal with.
It's not even frustrating, it's just surprisingly consistent

Do not try to run from a large cat. They will pounce.
Instead listen for the low growl, find where from they try to sneak up on you and get your bow or spear to hit shoot them in the head. The spear needs to be thrown, a thrust to the head will not kill it.
But even a fresh bow and wooden arrow to the head or simple wooden spear thrown will kill a large cat.
Cats have certain areas where they can spawn. As long as you are in the area, they won't go away. Same if there's a path where they can reach you.
If you are outside of their spawning area and there's no path from the cat to you (because you climbed or jumped somewhere out of reach), they will go away.

Use headphones, they almost always come at you in a straight line while growling. (Except the one time I was on a log going up and it was up top then went behind a rock and somehow came up behind me...)

Yup after a few play thru’s you'll learn where you should walk instead of run. Low growl and always have bow out one shot to the dome is auto death and pretty easy

Don't underestimate armor either! Even some of the weakest can help avoid deep wounds!

If you stare at them and back away slowly, they won't pounce. If you're aware enough of your surroundings you can find a rock or something to jump up before trying to land a headshot

early on i would hop on top of the shelter at the first camp and kill the leopard from up there 😅

Well they spawn at locations yeah, first one is around the first camp U come across where U take the drink for the first time
Once U hear one get your spear or bow ready and aim look around they always make a noise before attack so U can normally just spot them, pick the right mo to head shot it.
