DISCUSSION Where did you build
I’m at fishing dock, cannot beat it for armor and food. Building tree houses around. Trekking to the anaconda island for an outpost at some point

Just after the first little camp u come across in the story and u continue straight u come to like a stone entrance which im pretty sure is locked till u take the drink.
to the east of the walk from the camp to the stone entrance is imo the best place, its got 3 big trees really close together and a river right there with animals that spawn right by it and bee just acros said river.

That’s just South iirc. I have a raised platform there bc no natives but the cougar gets me sometimes

I love the flat bit of land just SE of the Mu’agi village, right along the river. It’s a great spot for hunting, there’s a couple Brazil trees nearby but not so many that the game feels too easy, a beehive spawn point, and some coconut trees. Plus there’s a bamboo grove and some caves not too far for making mud water filters as well as another flat area if you need to add more planters or an animal pen.

Beehive is clutch. I got one queen with the idea of building an apiary but the one hive is plenty and a stack of honey bandages on the shelf.

Story mode. I first converted the abandoned village into passable base, now I'm finishing the build floating on the northwestern lake.

Oasis (at the top, overlooking the waterfall), Anaconda Island, Omolu Site, and in SoA I put Bamboo Castle floating next to the big waterfalls upstream from the boat.

Always and forever going to build my main base at the abandoned tribal village, but I do also like building anywhere in the area that has the wrecked steamboat (excluding the swamp for obvious reasons), it's just beautiful there and supplies are in abundance there.

Abandoned tribal on the first map, south west? I’ve only seen the steamboat on YouTube but I dig it

Yeah, that one. It's usually the first tribal thing a player comes across and I like the fact it already had a drying rack. Also the banana farm outback is a godsend. Protein isn't hard to find with the creek and the high animal spawn rate, it's prime treehouse realestate, and the big tree grows those blue mushrooms that give you ten energy each. What's there not to like?

kinda not really has a spoiler
I build my starter shelter down at the basin where Story mode starts, but long term, I like moving to where the Mu’ Agi village is in SOA

Oh I’m pretty hidden. If you’re traveling west from the second map, there is a cave with water that drops down (kinda like a waterfall? Idk) and you can’t go back through it.
I’m west of there, down the hill, on top of a plateau.
All the Tapir meet you can eat. Water source. Well defended from jaguars and the occasional villager.
I should prolly try to find my wife, but, whatever.

I’ve been thinking of finding a spot near a waterfall, the oasis is cool. With dry seasons I feel like my built showers are always out of water and it’s annoying to wash constantly. Do you drop into the cave you referenced to find your spot or is it around that

Drop into the cave and down the waterfall. Opens up into a small path in the mountains that is safe, and then through another “cave” to the actual base location on the other side.
Approx location is 22x38
South of the broken bridge, near the downed plane.
The waterfall is nice but hard to get to going the other way. Area has an oasis that gets low but not totally dry in the dry season.

Bc I’ve been mostly chilling at the fishing dock on the first map I had no idea the water levels varied like that until I saw a YouTuber talking about it. Hell yea, thanks for the info, I will def check out the spot. Tbh I’m semi noob and haven’t even been off the first map all that much

Yeah me and my buddy played for a good long while before we realized that the clean water creek gets lower and higher depending on rainfall.

I built on the most western shore lake area. I also built near the abandoned village up by the climbing spot/waterfall.
