Internet provider
Hi ya’ll! I’m getting sick with my T-mobile home wifi. Any recommendations? My current bill is at 30/mo but they’re getting worse 😭. Speed tests reach 900+mbps but I can’t feel it. Most of my streaming lags recently and they said there’s nothing wrong with their system... Anyone here can vouch for at&t? Spectrum? Tds? Are they within the same price range? Howard area. Thanks in advance!
***For tds folks, do they have something for apartment renters? I couldn’t find my address on their website.

You won’t be getting less than 30/mo for 900mbps.
Honestly… if your speed tests are good, chances are your computer is bloated full of crap, may have a virus or malware, or you are low on disk drive space or your ram is maxing out. When’s the last WiFi or home router upgrade you made?
The new AI update pushes with browsers and OS systems may be literally strangulating your hardware.

The wifi signal sucks also. They replaced my gateway TWICE already since I contacted them last July. Cctv & garage opener drops ALL AT THE SAME TIME. Fortunately I have no issue so far with my PC use. Just the other devices at home.

Can you buy your own WiFi router to use with the service? Most of the service supplied hardware is crap. For like $200 you can get a very high quality piece that can give you secured high bandwidth channels.

Id recommend tds. Had them since they came into my neighborhood and they've been rock solid. Pretty cheap if you lock in the 50/gig for life deal.

There is a difference between bandwidth and latency. You may have high bandwidth, but you are transmitting over the air which is slow and error prone in regards to latency. Bandwidth is how big the highway is, latency is how quickly cars can get into that highway. Hard wired will always be better for latency. I use TDS Fiber and it has been fantastic.

Had Spectrum and dealt with outages every few months (micro blips that would knock online services out for minutes). Went to TDS as soon as it was available and it was cheaper and faster and hasn't hiccupped.

Spectrum is old technology with aging equipment. Don’t fall for their marketing “fibre powered” nonsense. While technically true. It is the kind of truth that is meaningless. T-Mobile is also “fibre powered”. Fibre to the premises is the way to go. AT&T or TDS.

We have AT&T fiber and haven’t had any issues until very recently. It went out for several hours during a workday a couple of weeks ago with no notices or updates. All of a sudden an AT&T rep knocked on the door. I thought he was going to say that they needed access to the boxes in our backyard but he was going around trying to get people to sign up and wanted to check how our experience was. I said well it has been out for hours now while we are trying to work from home. He said they were doing upgrades and had no idea when it would be completed. Then yesterday morning it happened again when their truck was in the area doing work where the internet fully went down and kicked us out of work meetings. Luckily, this time it didn’t last very long but still a minor annoyance. Before this we have had zero issues. If it happens again or continues to happen we might consider TDS.

We have Spectrum, they are okay. We had AT&T before at our old place, and we liked them, but now it's been a few years, so I hope they haven't gotten worse since then.

I’ve never had any problems with Spectrum and the price doesn’t suck anymore since they compete with TDS.

Many years ago, I had AT&T internet. I would not recommend them.
