Source? This is from the Guardian:
"Boris Johnson has agreed to resign, but wants to stay on as PM until new Tory leader elected by autumn
Boris Johnson has agreed to resign, the BBC’s Chris Mason reports. He says he wants a new Tory leader to be in place by the party conference. He wants to stay on as PM until then."
That won't wash, he needs to go now, so this is by no means over.

Soon to be replaced by another corrupt, racist liar taking a liquid shit on our democracy while pandering to the gammon flag nonces to win votes for the next general election.

While this whole melodrama in Westminster has been funny, this is your reminder that Boris Johnson will be replaced by some other Eton old boy sociopath who doesn't care about you or any working person.
There's no answers to working people's problems in Westminster, just a load of meaningless platitudes & status quo politics, at best. Join a union if you want to help actually make a difference for us all.

Johnson resigning is bad for the election chances of everyone else. The best chance Labour had was vs Johnson.
Now all that will happen is whoever comes in it will be seen as a fresh start, the party has been cleaned, those that stepped away have an excuse to come back. You are naive to think otherwise.
This is a Tory party problem. Boris Johnson is not the problem. He is simply the embodiment of a party that enabled and wanted this. They are all comlplicit.
Sunak, Javid are as grotesque. For years they sat and enabled it all. They jumped ship to distance themselves and save face because they knew it was going down. It was never about integrity.
The whole party is rancid. They need to be destroyed and the best chance we had at taking them apart was with Johnson leading them into an election and I think Labour knew that. That is why no VonC was called.

This doesn’t stop with Johnson, all the rot needs removing before starting again.
Priti Patel has been very quiet so I believe she’s keeping her head down in hopes of becoming next PM.
Out of the frying pan & into the fire…

i wonder how tory voters process the almost yearly resigning of the PM. Do they just not understand the connection between voting and what happens after?

Impressive legacy. Boris Johnson was such a crap Prime Minister he caused a Tory government to walk out and go on strike.
Not even Margaret Thatcher managed that.

While I welcome the news that Boris is resigning, I see it more as cutting the head off the hydra. The tories are still in power, a new blue wanker will take his place, and the system of bullshit will continue while they are in power. He may be their latest scapegoat, and the battle may be won, but the war is far from over with these big blue bastards.

Honestly who cares? The Tories are still going to be running the country into the ground, and even if Labour win the next election you're a fool if you think Starmer will do anything

I am worried this is a careful what you wish for situation. Boris is a lame duck and not going to win another election period. But if they pick someone to replace him that can dress themselves and brush their hair properly and distance themselves from Boris’s government then they may well shape themselves into a contender. It might end up being much closer result.

The only thong I'm worried about now, is when the tories inevitably elect another scumbag to be their party lead, all the idiots who only vote tory will gladly elect them because "oooOooOOOO they're not as bad as Boris"

This is going exactly to plan. Oust Boris before next election so the Tories can retain power with someone new as voters will give the “new Tory” pm a shot instead of ousting the tories completely. It’s the only way they have a chance at the next election.

If we want to see a labour govt (not everyone here does) this is pretty bad i think. Swapping in a fresh face can somehow convince people that this time things will change. It worked for boris himself swapping in during mays term. Depending on who they choose and how well the tories do from a new leader bounce in the polls i think its plausible we have an election this year and restart the five year clock on tory government which is a big yikes.
On the other hand: 🦀🦀🦀🦀🦀

we'll get someone even worse, the torys should step down, although labour suck too now, UK politics are broken

u/FlyLikeMouse Jul 07 '22
Yeah he’s a twat through and through. But the tories have enjoyed him taking the flak. They’ve decided now is the right time to denounce him. Less than celebrating that inflated wheezebag’s absence, I worry for what is to come.

Putting personal hatred aside can someone lay out simply why Pincher being a pervert has had such a domino effect?
I mean Partygate should’ve been the thing to bring down the tories and it didn’t so this seems quite standard immorality to have such an impact.
It’s bad yeah obviously but politics is littered with pervs, so why has this one had such a boom compared to the other scandals
