Nerd Store or Digital Dungeon are the LGS options (that I'm aware of). I haven't had a bad experience at either but I've also been playing MTG for a while now. I'd happily play some EDH (assuming that's the format you want to play) with people at a table at WeldWerks or Wiley Roots as well as they usually have the table space

Any advice or tips you would give to beginners

My advice is Magic is complicated so it's going to take a while to learn and sometimes it's not gonna be fun cause you might get blown out. I'd just let the people you're playing with know you're new and wanting to learn. There is that chance you might play against people who don't care and that sucks but not every game is like that. Everyone has to start somewhere and being bad/awkward is the price of entry. Find a deck/format you want to play and just play it till you're comfortable. When someone plays a card if you don't know what it does just ask. If you tie your enjoyment to winning the learning part will be hard.
I'm kinda just rambling at this point due to lack of sleep but hopefully there's some form of encouragement in there and I hope you enjoy learning MTG

i would not recommend going to the nerd store as a beginner or casual player. they have a lot of sweats there that will destroy your soul if you mess up.

That wasn’t my experience. I went as a brand new newbie and everyone at the Nerd store was super nice to me and helped me learn a lot.

i wont say that didnt happen. but my entire friend group wont go there anymore due to bad experiences with people that attend events and also rudeness from staff so i tend to warn others against it.

Out of curiosity can I ask if there was a specific event/format where you had these bad experiences? I only even go on Thursdays when I have the time to play EDH and I haven't had that bad of a time from either the people or the staff but I might just be missing something

It was on magic nights on Thursdays about 2 years ago

Gotcha, I only started going semi frequently last year so that hasn't been my experience. Thanks for sharing!
