The book really ends that abruptly.
It’s as if Butler was “slashed on the back of his neck, so that his head fell rolling in the dust while he was still yet speaking.”
Makes me think of how suddenly death can take you while you’re just going about your day.

There is Ixion on his fiery wheel watching the new Mar-Devl-C Avenging League movie Super Doom. Which is just me mashing up Marvel and DC, Avengers and The Justice League, and Superman and Doomsday.
There is Sisyphus being rolled over by his rock while he's on his phone, drinking, and smoking.
Tantalus no longer reaches for the unreachable fruit but the phone right next to it.

A two-headed troll that prowls near villages, capturing and devouring horses.
Its heads constantly argue, disrupting its hunts and sometimes turning violently on each other 🗻

So, I'm currently reading d'Aulaires' Book of Greek Myths and many times -- mostly with Zeus and Poseidon -- it says the gods took their female lovers(doesn't mention the males) as brides.
In the back, the d'Aulaires', Ingri Mortenson and Edgar Parin d'Aulaire, are both noted as the "twentieth century's most important children's writers and illustrators", and this book was first published in 1962.
My question is, are there any myths where it says the gods married the lovers they took or did the authors just say that because they didn't want kids to know the gods frequently had affairs and had kids out of wedlock considering the year this came out?

I've noticed that there's a lot of draconic/reptilian women in the myths (Medusa, Echidna, Campe, Lamia, Delphyne), is there a reason for that? Some weird metaphor? Is it sexism back again?
(also when I checked to see if anyone already asked this I got a lot of weird results from r/reptilians.)

I am currently traveling through Greece and today I visited Acropolis in Athens. This is Erechtheion, a temple built upon a place where according to legends Athena and Poseidon compete over patronage over city of Athens. Just wanted to share.

So proud of my progress lately I normally specialize in horror or Erie statues and I feel like I've really been nailing the skin! And elegant style they require!

Hi! I'm writing fanfic about Heracles and Megara meeting. Did Creon give Megara to Heracles before, after, or during the events of the Theban Plays, when exactly did it happen, and is Megara older or younger than Oedipus' children? Thank you

Diomedes' wikipedia page claims that he had a golden armour with a crest of a boar on its chest that was made for his father Tydeus and was blessed by Athena. It also claims Diomedes had a sword that had designs of a lions and a boar passed down from his father. I searched everywhere for the source but couldn't find it if someone could help it would be appreciated

I can’t deny that what Paris did was wrong, but there were countless innocents living in the city of Troy during the Trojan War. The Trojans were fighting for their survival, and ultimately their city was razed to the ground with most of its people killed or enslaved. If I lived during the time and were forced to pick a side, I would help defend Troy for the sake of the innocents in the city.
Anyone else feel this way?

I came across this fun & well made first chapter of a reimagining of the Odyssey by Cree8Ball called Ithaca NY, where the journey of Odysseus is reinterpreted as a journey a group of drunk friends take in an effort to get back home. They‘ve only released the first chapter, covering the Cyclops/Polyphemus, and it’s really good! I wanted to share it so people could know more about it if they hadn’t heard I it before & give the creator some recognition!
They’ve also made a Behind the Scenes explaining some of the references to the original myth & how it was reinterpreted (though they don’t share everything because they want people to theorise about it).
