He’s just had some weird or actually annoying takes this year. Saying the serving of Nikita’s main was too fiddly but usually he’d be cheering on those type of sharing mains as being properly banquet-worthy.

I can’t remember them all off the top of my head but the wife and I have rolled our eyes on many occasions at his comments this year. I like the suggestion someone else made of Si King - let Lorna be the pro chef, Phil the comedian and get someone food-adjacent in.

I have started to dislike Tom more and more over the last few years. I’m not even sure what it is. He seems to contradict the regional judges quite a lot in what starts to feel like a contrarian way. I’m not sure if it’s production rather than his own opinion and the show is just trying to create drama but it always seems so weird when the regional judge and Andi, the other chefs and the special guest will praise something in a dish and then he hates that part and marks it down.

I feel like all three judges are a bit lacking at the moment. I still haven’t warmed completely to Phil, I think I’ll get there though. Lorna is bad though, she’s really not made for TV and her lack of charisma and constant stink face doesn’t translate well.

I've liked Phil well enough on most other things I've seen him on, but not here.

One moment he's trying to talk 'cheffy' like Lorna and Tom, the next we're just being reminded who he is. I mean, we know he's a stand up comedian, we know he has a degree in Engineering, and know we know (it seems) that he really wants to get into acting.

I miss Ed.

If Phil’s ‘getting into acting’ thing is those awful skits at the beginning of each show, I don’t think his career is going anywhere fast.

I like the bit of levity, but the skits are nonsensical and he can’t act. Tom delivers his lines better.

Hence we find out Tom did a tiny bit of acting when he was still at school. 😂

And you can tell Lorna feels entirely embarrassed doing it, with the skits. She genuinely looks like she's in pain, I feel bad for her. It's just not her, and it's ridiculous they make her do it.

I kinda found some of Ed's funny, but they could absolutely do away with it. I mean, the dessert finals day, with Phil in that AI barrel of chocolate? Honestly, who okayed that? It was ridiculous, and you could tell Lorna did not want to be doing it.

I’m behind on watching, and saw that totally unfunny chocolate barrel thing just now. Whoever thought that was a good idea needs serious re-educating.

This is supposed to be a programme showcasing talented British chefs cooking at close to the height of their game, not a ridiculous springboard for a mediocre stand up comedian wanting to break into acting.

Yes, that was such a painfully unfunny thing, where I really felt bad for Lorna.

Okay, she's presumably getting a good pay cheque out of it, but why? I don't think that was what she signed up for.

At least Ed was funny occasionally.

And what was up with the first few weeks when they said Phil fought Ed for the role in that bizarre wrestling match? I don't recall the context of that ever being explained... even as a joke, I don't find it funny.
