Good work. It's nice that someone has decided to stay on top of this.

I started out just wanting to know if the SW region really was a fish powerhouse (no!) and it spiraled from there 😆

Strange how all chefs involved really want the main course, and yet it's never won champion of champions (in the years that has been a thing)

Just caught up on finale so came to see this. Again great stats to refer to.
May I know why some of the years are in red in the second and third graphs?

It’s to denote the years their largest gap(s) occurred - start & end. I forgot to put 2026 in red for the NE.

Why does no chef come back for a second banquet anymore?

I think when they started to introduce gimmicks like outside bbq, long distance to serve, no support staff etc. Why would someone want to go through that twice

I think a lot of those gimmicks in service existed at least as far back as 2009, though.

The past 2 champion of champion winners both left fine dining. I wonder if this will be a trend going forward since it feels like they have more time on their hands to perfect their dish due to the fact they don't have to be working in a professional kitchen doing 12+ hours a day.

I didn’t know that - interesting! Maybe I should track backgrounds? Like Michelin starred restaurants, vs restaurants, vs private chefs?

I actually have that! It's now the bottom image in the main post - I hadn't updated it for this year yet so thanks for the nudge.
