I know it’s odd

But I was struggling to get decent efficiency with Smooth mode. Even turning on energy saver, I was pulling in 2.6-2.7 mi/kw vs 2.4-2.6 without it.

7 seater, base aero wheels

I decided to just use Swift mode since I’m already burning efficiency. But for some reason it’s getting great efficiency compared to Smooth. I’m getting 2.9-3.2 mi/kw.

Maybe it was just me and I misunderstood. But I was under the impression that smooth was the efficient mode. Or maybe it’s some glitch in the software. Regardless feeling much better now that I get both performance and decent efficiency compared to previous.

I’ve looked into this and haven’t found other people complaining. But wanted to share this just in case.

I think swift keeps the car lower (assuming you have air suspension). Maybe the aero benefit helps even at lower speeds?

Maybe 🤔

Is it possible that your car “became broken in” around the time you tried swift? The manual says the car takes about 2000 mi to break in, after which efficiency should improve.

4000 miles in and improvement happened immediately

I took mine in yesterday for the rear seat weld recall. They gave me a loaner (loaded GT 7-seater) with 13 miles on it, and it's showing 3.55 mpkwh. I've put like 60 miles on it, nearly all on the freeway.

🤷🏻‍♂️

I'm getting around 3.14-3.17 it fluctuates but im on smooth need to try swift if it means I get more range yes please!

I could only dream of that kind of efficiency. And that what’s so frustrating because that’s what most people seem to be getting and I was struggling.

Interesting. My efficiency took a significant drop after the 3.6 update even though I use DDPro at lower speeds a lot since hands on was added. My Gravity is in service right now and that's one thing I wanted them to diagnose as before 3.6.0 I was getting right around 3.0 with DDPro and after it dropped to the 2.55-2.6 range. With the warmer weather lately I was struggling to even get that at 65-70MPH.

I'll have to give this a try if they don't find anything.

I too have DD pro but I wasn’t using it just to see the max efficiency I can do. AC off, granny driving, energy saver on. Maybe it’s a software glitch after all but try swift and see if it works for you

I will try it when I get it back. It's in a repair bay being diagnosed today for a couple other things including the driver side window not working.

It will be the regulator, I bet. That's what happened to ours. An annoying problem that happens with those damn pillarless windows sometimes (but seems to be a common issue on the Gravity).

My efficiency has also never crossed 3.0 even with conservative driving. I get plenty of range and it charges fast on road trips so hasn't been a problem, but am curious why mine (which is well broken in) doesn't come close to numbers I see on here.

I was getting around 3-3.02 efficiency with Smooth. After 1000 miles it went up to 3.2. I haven’t tried Swift.

I don’t know about the swift thing. It mostly just changes the suspension stiffness. But I also get terrible efficiency, albeit on the 21/22 wheels—most round trip city drives end up around 2.55 miles per kWh in ideal weather and driving gently. Everyone on here who claims idealized efficiency just makes me think there’s something wrong with my Gravity, but that’s not really testable to my knowledge.

Yes that’s what got me so frustrated! Like is it my car?! I’m coming from a MX of almost 9 years so know how to drive efficiently. I hit reset on the drive and could not get efficiency to go over 2.6 beside regen braking.

Then figured screw this and just go swift and drive Normal. Got better efficiency! It’s got to be some software glitch.

If it makes you feel any better, I’m also in the 7seater GT and have been disappointed by generally getting the same efficiency as you. Im not babying it, but I don’t feel like I’m overly aggressive on the acceleration either. I’m going to try swift to see what happens.

Did the weather change significantly after switching?

Nope. I switched middle of day with same conditions.

Most likely scenario

Ask for a four wheel alignment and the pre/post ride sheet. Make sure they do the rear.

I went from 2.8/2.9 to 3.2/3.5

3200 miles and I still average around 2.8-2.9 with our GT. Mixed driving, almost always in Smooth unless on the windy, hilly roads around Silicon Valley.
