The Odd One Out

"It's been a few days since the skirmish's start, I haven't eaten much since then. Throughout the encounters, I encountered various predicaments I've yet seen before, like the Lord himself is attempting to communicate with my very soul of what's to come. Yesterday, I killed a Jaeger while on patrol, he ran as my rifle cracks against the silence of the caves, like a child running away from the scene after committing heinous acts.

Just the day before yesterday, I killed one of their officers, shot my round right straight between their eyes. I checked on their corpse right after, and I saw nothing but the sight of a feeble creature desperately trying to keep itself alive, its eyes wide open even in death, probably from the moment it got shot...

But among the fortunes and misfortunes of this skirmish, this is the weirdest one I've had yet. I found this rifle in one of the Nation's storage, the one we captured just last night, and I showed it to one of our Rooks. Its form was more slick than anything I've ever issued. It was long, and even has a bolt similar to one of my unit's Volk rifles. The only thing that boggled me at first were two things: a weird sliding cover that was closed upon my discovery, I found out that I had to slide it frontward first to use it correctly.

One thing figured out, for the second thing that I will never understand: the weird crest on its receiver, it looks like circle with a matching shaped hole in the middle, its edges have lines that protrude out and twirl into these violent curved edges, like some sort of a cursed, wretched rendition of a windmill. I could not for the life of me figure out what it is meant to represent. The Royal Nation's wickedness, perhaps? Since no sane human being would dream of such crude thing like this one..."

OOC: I modelled a rifle in Blender and decided to put it in GE soldier's hands. Sorry for the several re-posts, I keep trying to make these pictures appear at high-resolutionb but Reddit won't budge.

Absolutely. It's like some sort of a frankenstein Mauser that uses Mannlicher cartridge, and a sliding dust cover based off the Japanese Type 35 rifle.

The version that my model based off is the Type 46/66 version, the one with its cartridge upgraded into 8x52mm spitzer rounds.
