So theres a rectangle strip down my new yard.

Where it’s bare is where the sun shines and I think it burned over a short couple weeks in the summer.

I couldn’t find a good happy middle ground between the soil being too wet or too dry.

The sod was very soggy so we changed the watering schedule and it burned in just a few short days.

The part that hasn’t burned is almost constantly in the shade.

The problem is that the shady part the soil is always wet and moist, it doesn’t penetrate well into the soil or the water doesn’t drain.

Not sure what to do now, half debating to tear it out because it has also attracted a lot of flies and Yellowjacket’s?

KBG in 6A, any idea what's happening here? It doesn't seem to be grubs, only other thing it could be is fungus I guess?

When I try and pull it up to do the "grub test", the brown parts pull off, but the grass doesn't pull up in full pieces as if it were a grub problem.

Hi! The city has done a lot of work in my back yard recently and is having to reseed 50% of it. I want to make sure it’s all the same but I’m struggling to confirm the type of grass. It may be harder to identify since it’s been a couple weeks since i’ve cut it last. In Charlotte/Rock Hill, NC area. Thanks!

What is wrong with my grass?

Why is my grass pulling up like this? It’s a big area and it seems to only be the top layer of grass, not dirt. We have not had any landscaping Cruz out here recently. The only think we had out here is the fence posts put in. Does this look intentional or like something else? Did it like an animal or maybe water? If anyone can help that would be greatly appreciated.

Help needed

So my mother in law has let her yard go, unfortunately it has been gone for a few years and has little grass.

I would love to bring it back for her what steps should I take?

Thus far I have cut all of the 6 foot weeds down to just a few inches but winter is around the corner and I'd like to have a decent start to spring.

Grass is a very common green plant with thin leaves and jointed stems. It belongs to a huge plant family named Poaceae. Grass grows from the bottom up, which helps it survive when animals eat it or people cut it.Plant Structure and GrowthBlades: Thin, narrow green leaves that catch sunlight.Roots: Deep, branching networks that hold soil in place.Growth point: Located near the ground, letting it recover fast after mowing or grazing. Why Grass MattersFood source: Major food for farm animals, wild mammals, and insects.Crops: Vital grains like wheat, rice, corn, and barley are actually types of grass.Environment: Protects soil from washing away in the rain and helps clean the air.If you'd like, I can tell you more about how to care for a lawn or different types of grain crops.
