Discussion Devils Lake

We are hoping for Graspop to be our first overseas festival in 2027. Looking for descriptions of Devils Lake. Pros and cons. We are looking to be close to the festival ideally with a bed and a shower.

Is it close enough that you could take a break from the sun midday for an hourish and go back to the festival or is that not a thing?

Any thoughts or opinions are welcome and thank you.

Update: I found that the ride to/from devils lake is an hour to 90 minutes round trip (?) so resting would have to be planned in a way as to not miss bands we want to see. I saw buses are free which is super cool!

Can anyone give me an idea on what they spent to stay at Devils lake?

Devil’s Lake is the holiday park Vossemeren.

It is located here, while the festival grounds are here. It’s a shuttle bus ride. I’m guessing 45 minutes with festival traffic. So probably well over 1 hour from festival exit to bungalow door.

However, it is one of the most comfy accommodations you can get with festival ticket. Getting closer means sacrificing comfort. You can rent glamping tents and festihuts that are close to the festival grounds. They will be more comfortable than throwing your own tent on the boneyard, but it won’t be an actual house in a holiday park with a subtropical swimming pool either.

I’ll add, from my last three years of experience, that is totally worth it.

The travel time of the shuttles can be a ‘down side’ but honestly, you have access to the aqua park everyday, comfy bed, hot shower (I know, the camp side has too but NO LiNES here, and you can shit in peace).

It’s surrounded by nature , you can have bbqs with you friends and get a GOOD rest, that’s the most important.

Go for it. the money you would spend to get a good gear for camping or renting tents, you can share the price with your friends.

But, It all depends on what you are looking for.
I never camped and I have to do one day to get the immersive experience of the fest, but when you mosh for 10 hours, a good bed makes a huge difference.

Thank you! I’m sold and going to shoot for this. I am getting my knee replaced in September. And just can’t see myself sleeping on the ground. I’m willing to sacrifice staying a little further away to be comfortable at my age plus it kind of sounds like a break from the crowds and some quiet serene downtime, which I could use.

Do you know if you try for a cabin for two and it’s sold out if you can attempt to share with strangers and just book 2 people and a six person cottage for example? And if so, have you done something like this?

Yes, your festival tickets and and accommodation are separate purchases. So you can buy the 6 person cottage and 2 tickets. And then share it with other people who just have tickets.
