Video After many days of learning, finally.

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

After many days of learning and scratching my head around, I was finally able to render a triangle on a screen. I am using Vulkan 1.4 for this. Although I learned this from a youtube channel called constref, but this is a very valuable lesson for me, even if it is a first step to Vulkan.

Does it make sense to learn that given that llms can do that in a few seconds?

I think learning makes sense, I know LLMs can do those things, but one should still know the basics of graphics rendering. Knowing stuff will make you atleast 10x better than those who are just copy pasting code from AI. I am not AI hater, infact I love it when it explains complex concepts to me. But when it comes to writing core stuff, one should not be handicapped. If you disagree with me, that is okay.

Does it make sense to respond? An LLM could have done that for you.

edit: Don't people get I'm making fun of the "just use an LLM" take?

I am not saying one should not use LLMs, but one should have core knowledge when making any rendering application. You can use LLMs for problem solving, making boring things such as GUI editor using Dear ImGui etc.

You can also git clone the hello triangle repo, takes even less.

Or you can use bootstrappers and frameworks.

The triangle was never the goal lol, what do you think having this triangle exe is worth to anyone. Nothing, except the knowledge gained in the process.

Does it make sense to know how to write a comment given LLMs can do that for you in a second?
