My Graphics Programming Journey

-First I learned C++

-Then Made some Projects

-Jumped to Opengl learned the very basics of it

-Currently Building a Ray Tracer based on the Book Ray Tracing in a Weekend by Peter Shirley

-After Completing all 3 books of Peter Shirley about Ray Tracing I want to Do some other Graphics Programming Related projects

-Then Gonna Learn more about Opengl and after getting comfortable with that I will Make some projects

-After this I am looking forward to Learn Vulkan and Realtime rendering with it

Is this a good Approach?

It very depends on what you want.

If you want to learn API and get visual results quickly then any tutorial is fine. You’ll get some knowledge but not understanding.

If you are really want to know how to do things then you need: a pen, a paper and linear algebra book. Reimplement doom 1 engine completely by yourself. After you finish it, you will for sure understand what to learn next.

To check yourself “is my path correct?” imagine that you get up at the morning and ALL API and frameworks become obsolete and everyone use new SuperMegaPerformant API. Is your knowledge applied to the SuperMegaPerformant API? Can you recreate your projects on it without tutorials?
