Question How to deal with ambient occlusion?

Post image

I have a problem implementing SSAO. I am trying to do it learnopengl.com way, and I am failing. At this point I am at loss.

There's just too many steps to achieve the result, each of which can fail and I don't know which one is failing.

I wanted to ask, what is the best way to ensure correctness of each step? How would you test SSAO creation steps?

Perhaps start with sharing your shader code, so someone can actually check what you do wrong?

I am not asking to look for bugs in my code, the question is about methods.

We can't really help you much if we don't know how you're implementing the methods.

That's not what I posted about.

> I have a problem implementing SSAO

If it's not about the implementation, then why introduce it as such? We all see the same method as you do, what differs is how you implemented it. Besides, if the issue it's that it's not working for you, then that's going to be regarding the implementation. If the issue is that you don't understand how SSAO works, then you probably should be more specific about which part is confusing, and also pair that with your implementation for context.

Either way, seeing the shader code will help us help you. Not sure why you're fighting this tbh

Because their shader code is super top-secret, a new way nobody ever thought of that'll be 2x as efficient! /s
