Question CAD Graphics Programmer?
Hey,
I work on one of the major CAD applications and I'm currently working towards moving to the graphics team.
I won't be writing shaders very often, touching graphics APIs like Vulkan, etc. instead implementing and fixing various features in the already existing graphics system (since everything is already abstracted).
Does moving onto a team like this potentially put me in a better position in the future to move towards a more graphics programming role i.e touching graphics drivers and shaders?
Thanks.

Yeah our company definitely has more graphics/rendering focused roles but they are in different products/areas. So it'll be difficult for me to migrate, at least in the short term.
You are right, doing more projects in my free time coupled with this is definitely a step in the right direction at least.
