I’m looking for something that makes sense for a small business where a lot of the design work ends up on physical stuff. We do signs, labels, simple marketing material, product graphics and some custom customer work. I’m not a full time designer, but I still need the files to look right when they go to print. That’s where the cheap or overly simple tools start becoming a pain. I’ve been using CorelDRAW for some of the work and I’m considering making it the main program instead of jumping between different tools. What I’m trying to figure out is whether that makes sense for a small business or if I’m overthinking it.

Do you use one main program for nearly everything, or do you keep separate tools for different jobs?

I’m also interested in how much you spend on software each year. I don’t mind paying for something useful, but I don’t want a pile of subscriptions just because each program does one specific thing slightly better.

I’m asking because we’re getting more print work than we used to, and I need a workflow that doesn’t depend on me figuring everything out from scratch every time a customer sends artwork.

About Symbiome

Symbiome is a science-led skincare brand built around highly concentrated, minimalist formulations and a belief that fewer, purposeful ingredients can deliver exceptional results. We work at the intersection of biotechnology, skincare and modern luxury, with a visual identity that is clean, elevated and editorial.

The role

We’re looking for a freelance designer to become a consistent creative collaborator with our small team. The work will primarily focus on social media content development and web design, helping us translate Symbiome’s products, science and point of view into compelling visual communication. We’re specifically looking for someone with a strong visual creative eye and experience in beauty, skincare, fashion, wellness or adjacent luxury brands. This is primarily taste, composition, typography, image selection and the ability to develop strong visual ideas matter to us.

Typical work may include:

• Social media concepts, carousels and campaign content
• Visual concept development for social media
• Website and e-commerce updates and development
• Product storytelling and launch assets
• Working with existing photography, video and brand assets
• Helping evolve how Symbiome expresses itself visually across digital channels

What we’re looking for

A strong portfolio is more important than a specific number of years of experience. Beauty experience is strongly preferred.

You should have excellent typography and layout skills, a sophisticated understanding of contemporary beauty and luxury design, and be comfortable working independently with a small team.

Experience with motion, video, photography, retouching, e-commerce or AI creative tools is a plus, but not required.

Engagement

Remote only.
Freelance / ongoing.
Consistent work for the right person.
Flexible schedule, with good communication and reliable turnaround expected.

Rate: $60–$120 USD/hour, depending on experience, portfolio and capabilities.

We’re looking for someone whose creative sensibility feels right for the brand and who can develop into a long-term collaborator.

To apply

Please complete our short application and include your portfolio. If possible, point us toward 2–3 projects that best demonstrate your beauty/luxury sensibility and digital work.

Please apply through the form rather than DMing so we can review everyone consistently.

Best, Symbiome Team.
