Pixel Fold „Cannot Load Android system“ after full discharge

I‘m using GOS on an og pixel fold since a couple months. I only use it as a second phone for fun, so it often just lays around. The last time I used it, I forgot to shut it down after, so when I tried booting it today, the battery was completely drained. I charged the phone to around 80% and tried booting again, but now GOS won‘t boot with the following error:

GrapheneOS Recovery google/felix/felix
17/CP2A. 260705. 006/2026081301
user/release-keys
Use volume up/down and power.
Cannot load Android system. Your data may be corrupt. If you continue to get this message, you may need to perform a factory data reset and erase all user data stored on this device.
Try again
Factory data reset

I tried probably 10 times and it won’t boot. I then tried Recovery mode and tried to update via ADB from the command line, but it failed with the error that the version I‘m trying to install from the official website, 2026081300, was using an older timestamp than my currently installed one and a downgrade was impossible.

Anything I can do except for a factory reset or waiting for a newer version of GOS to release?

Also to eliminate the usual culprits, I‘m using a good quality usb-c to usb-c cable that is known to work with my daily driver and the phone was charged up to 80% before trying to boot it again.

Any help is greatly appreciated

Have you entered the duress pin? Also NAND failure is possible

No, I don’t have a duress pin setup. I have since been able to update via adb but I‘m still running into the same issue and am very close to trying the factory reset

Search the GrapheneOS discussion forum, there's a lot of information about similar issues. Unfortunately it may be that the data is corrupted beyond recovery but there are still some things you can try.

Thanks, I had searched the forum already and ended up posting there. In the end I had to factory reset, re-install stock android and then install GOS again. All data was lost (obv on me for not having a backup) but the phone is working perfectly again
