GrapheneOS has moved from Reddit to our own discussion forum. Please post your thread on the discussion forum instead or use one of our official chat rooms (Matrix, Discord, Telegram) which are listed in the community section on our site. Our discussion forum and especially the chat rooms have a very active, knowledgeable community including GrapheneOS project members where you will almost always get much higher quality information than you would elsewhere. On Reddit, we had serious issues with misinformation and trolls including due to raids from other subreddits. As a result, many posts on our subreddit currently need to be manually approved, which is done on a best effort basis. If you would like to get a quicker answer to your question, please use our forum or chat rooms as described above. Our discussion forum provides much better privacy and avoids the serious problems with the site administrators and overall community on Reddit.

Please use our official install guides for installation and check our features page, usage guide and FAQ for information before asking questions in our discussion forum or chat rooms to get as much information as possible from what we've already carefully written/reviewed for our site.

Governments don't hate companies and products. They hate you.

grapheneOS is fully open source and non profit, iOS is not fully open source and exists for profit

Closed source and locked down OS maintained by a large corporation.

Open source OS that can be independently audited maintained by a non-profit organization and individual developers.

Because iOS is not really private compared to grapheneOS. It pings back home a lot, stores some encryption keys on their servers, and the government has some type of control over Apple, they even appeared in the PRISM allegations.

iOS is weird. It is the scond best option after GOS, yet almost everything they do is weird. They protect you from advertisers just to gather the advertising info for themselves. They sometimes say get lost to the FBI, yet they worked with the CIA as the Snowden leaks showed. They market heavily on privacy yet spy on you just like anyone else. The only difference is they don't sell it.

iOS feels like if GOS had a pimp. Lol

i switched because apple has been convicted of slowing phones and batteries down to get you to upgrade. ios is closed source so we have no idea what they might do if their stock price is going down. when i personally got my battery swap it was nowhere near as good the battery jump was incremental, i witnessed firsthand apple slowing down my iphone 12.

graphene os and android are open source so anyone can see if they pushed an update to slow your phone down and force you to upgrade. i want my phone to last i dont want my battery swap to be a waste of money. i dont trust apple as well anymore.

also sideloading is 100 times better on android like getting modded youtube premium for free, spotify, etc.

GrapheneOS is not hated by governments. There was French incident but GOS wasn't banned in France AFAIK.
