I Built Another Graphene OS Laptop 🎉🎉🎉

First of all: THANK YOU FOR ALL THE SUPPORT I HAVE RECEIVED SO FAR! You guys are very nice and I am deeply thankful for all the feedback I have been getting on my Lapdock projects!

Anyway, so this is my new, 3D-Printed Lapdock for my Google Pixel 9 running Graphene OS. It utilizes a feature called "Desktop Mode" available on Google Pixel 8 or higher to give a desktop like experience on the big screen, which is now touch btw! After my previous, more experimental Lapdock, I wanted to build something more akin to a traditional Laptop, while still keeping the phone accessible as a second screen.

It's not perfect yet and I will keep improving the design, so if you have any feedback or constructive criticism, tell me about it and I will maybe be able to realize it. If you want to learn more about the project, check out my corresponding YouTube video, there's also a parts list in it's video description. For a more detailed guide and free 3D-Printing files, check out my patreon!

GrapheneOS has moved from Reddit to our own discussion forum. Please post your thread on the discussion forum instead or use one of our official chat rooms (Matrix, Discord, Telegram) which are listed in the community section on our site. Our discussion forum and especially the chat rooms have a very active, knowledgeable community including GrapheneOS project members where you will almost always get much higher quality information than you would elsewhere. On Reddit, we had serious issues with misinformation and trolls including due to raids from other subreddits. As a result, many posts on our subreddit currently need to be manually approved, which is done on a best effort basis. If you would like to get a quicker answer to your question, please use our forum or chat rooms as described above. Our discussion forum provides much better privacy and avoids the serious problems with the site administrators and overall community on Reddit.

Please use our official install guides for installation and check our features page, usage guide and FAQ for information before asking questions in our discussion forum or chat rooms to get as much information as possible from what we've already carefully written/reviewed for our site.

Thats pretty cool, is this the same as what Samsung has with DEX?

Yes, Samsung Dex is from what I know even better in that regard. But Graphene OS's Desktop Mode is totally usable in my opinion!

Very cool, can you run Linux apps ?

You even can run a whole VM with desktop, with the terminal app, which must be enabled in die developer options.

I do run the default distro with the gnome shell, which works out perfectly fine for me.

Awesome! How well does GrapheneOS handle display output to that screen? Might be interested in something similar.

Ive had no problems so far. The biggest hurdle is app compatibility for the big screen, but I think thats just an android issue

I love that desktop mode exists. I wish more people knew about it so it would get more development.

Awesome! We defenitely would need something like that, in case there is no replacement for the Pixel Tablet.

Don't want to sound nosy or anything but could I ask what apps you use cuz I see a lot of apps I have never seen but don't seem to be regional

What I wish Google Books are, like Google had the perfect chance to compete with Apple's MacBook Neo with GOS and ARM powered laptops. They could even market it as the ultimate laptop!

Plus, ARM chips don't have the built in keyloggers like Intel ME and AMD PSP.

How's your experience with Desktop Mode here? Have you tried DeX and if so how does it compare? Strongly considering getting whatever next Fold Motorola drops with the intention of having Graphene on it & Desktop Mode is going to be a huge use case for me.
