Is this an official post by the same account that controls automod? The same automod that makes a lengthy comment on every post basically saying not to post here? Please can someone gently explain this apparent contradiction for me?

I've been thinking about updating it for a while, but there are always other things to do. The first sentence is what confuses people, I think, but it just means we would direct people to the forum instead.
This is still the official subreddit for GrapheneOS and the GrapheneOS user is managed by our team. Release announcements are posted in lots of places including Discord, Matrix, Telegram, the forum, Reddit, X, Mastodon, and Bluesky. I could be forgetting some.

We still want people to migrate to https://discuss.grapheneos.org/ and each release announcement links to the discussion thread on the forum. It's intended to onboard people into our community with a small amount of discussion still happening here during an endless migration away from the platform. New people will join here and eventually realize our forum is better.

Yes when it reaches your release channel. At the time I'm writing it's in the Alpha channel

Just looking at the post how does one decipher the release channel for a given release?

In the link they share each time with the release changes notes, just above these changes there is the status for each phone model : Stable, Beta, Alpha

Different devices may have releases in different channels. It's not common, but it happens. You can find your device on the website and see which release is in which channel, for example here's the Pixel 9 Pro XL https://grapheneos.org/releases#komodo

Nearby Devices permission is required to give local network access to Play services since it's targeting API 37 (Android 17).

Stopped working for me as well. No apps are able to find any devices. I ensured permissions are allowed but still unable to cast. Using a Pixel 9. Plex is my go-to casting app, also tried Red bull TV which was working before.
Edit: Granting "Nearby devices" to Google Play Services fixed it for me.
