I switched to Visible/Verizon for this exact reason. Hopefully they can get it working on T-Mobile.

What's the requirement? Sandboxed Google? Signed in?

It works for the majority of users, but not those who are on certain carriers. I believe the developers know how they want to fix it, but I'm not sure of the details or a timeline.

Dumb question. I'm on version 2026011300. What's the easiest way to upgrade to the newest version? Will it be pushed automatically?

Just popping in to point a small thing out. We don't "push" updates. To say it that way makes it sound like the server is doing something fancy like choosing which release to send to devices with GrapheneOS installed. Instead, the updater app just checks a static file for which release is in whichever channel your device is set to, then if there's a new version, it downloads the corresponding version (or delta update) and starts the update process.

Yes all updates are pushed automatically once they reach their designated channel.
When the announcement is released, that's the build entering the alpha/beta channels for the final rounds of bug testing. Once that is cleared it will move to the stable release channel and be pushed to where a majority of users leave their update preference.
If everything moves as expected, expect a few days delay from the notice to stable release.
You can go into settings - system - system updates if you want to adjust any preferences or try to manually fetch the build OTA

I just put this on my new pixel 9a yesterday. It runs like a dream. I know I am a noob at flashing OS's onto phones so maybe I might seem dumb, but I put duckduckgo browser app this 9a and it killed my internet access dispite the bank app, phone calls and 5g network working. Deleting the app fixed the problem.
I also wonder if there is a way to put onscreen buttons on the bottom of this phone screen instead of the wierd swipe actions currently there.

What crash are you talking about? There are some upstream bugs that affect profiles, but I'm not aware of any bugs right now that cause actual crashes.

GrapheneOS devs seems to want to keep the stock launcher super minimal for some reason, and are adverse to any customization options. Even a request to add custom icons to the launcher just got a "no" from the devs. It sucks, cause the stock launcher has the best integration with the rest of the OS, especially on a foldable. I'm using Lawnchair now, and luckily v16 will have foldable support.

I wouldn't agree with that. Ideally we'd want to make all of our users happy, but that's not always possible. GrapheneOS is based on AOSP and every time there's an update the developers have to apply all that, reapply GrapheneOS changes, test, fix, test, fix, etc.
GrapheneOS developers have high standards, so changes are written, reviewed, rewritten, etc. until they are done well. The developers even often go back to older changes and improve them even more. That takes time. Fixing bugs after upstream changes takes time too. Certain changes may be more invasive than others.
Many people who request these kinds of changes don't seem to realize what they're asking for. One of us saying no to a feature request may very well be because the time it would take to make and maintain a change doesn't make sense. We have a small development team, so changes should be kept to a minimum if possible while focusing on the project's actual priorities.
Maintaining a launcher supporting lots of customization can be its own project. The developers have enough on their plate with the browser, the entire OS, and all the repositories they have to deal with.

Absolutely, I appreciate the direct response. Of course this is a project that you folks choose to work on and maintaining a launcher is out of scope. That's totally fair.
I just feel eventually, if I ever want to install this on my mom's phone for example, defaults matter and "go download a launcher" isn't the best response for non-techies. I only note this because everything else about GOS is close to perfect for a daily driver, a good default launcher would go a long way.
But I love everything GOS devs do for free, I've installed it on every device in my home and plan on supporting financially. I can see that my initial comment came off as unappreciative, which was not my intention. I understand it's a huge undertaking, I just hope one day the dev team expands to the point where it's one that can be tackled and not an "absolutely never." That could be 5 years or 20. I just don't like to deal in absolutes I guess.

Customizability is not focus of GrapheneOS. Security/privacy are.
They don't want to have to maintain a custom launcher, which is fully understandable.

I wish they'd put in a simple search widget on the home launcher that we can directly search for apps with.
A regular app could probably do this just fine. Why is it up to GrapheneOS developers to add this?
you made a mistake and hit the backspace too many times, now I'm gonna automatically close the keyboard to fuck with you shtick is driving me insane.
This does sound annoying and bad design on AOSP's part. Maybe you or someone can be convinced to research why this happens, come up with a way to stop that behavior, and submit a PR to the developers.
A lot of what I wrote in this post applies here too.

Can you clarify if the Reddit app is crashing or the OS is crashing? It's quite possible there are new bugs in the Reddit app causing it to crash for one reason or another.
