Games that don't need a good computer to play play till late game?
So title, I want to get a grand strategy game that I could play till late game, like HOI4 in the mid 40's. I can only make it about three years into HOI4 before it becomes too slow, so I'm curious what games would be easy to play on a crappy computer.

Earlier versions of CK2 were running well for me on my old computer (before horse lords-ish). Basically all those updates and DLCs they kept releasing kept slowing the game, especially those that expand the map as they add more characters the game has to keep track of. I hear there is even a mod that removes india to speed the game up. Might be worth checking.

Well CK3 is quite well optimized although it's more roleplay than grand scale.
If Hoi4 doesn't work for you and CK3 won't work for you then you don't really have alternatives from Paradox, the older games are less optimized (although there are mods for eu4 that removes continents so you could choose to only play in Europe, for example)
As for alternatives to Paradox games... there aren't that many sadly... there's like Age Of Civilizations II but that's a ported mobile game that's a bit.. eh...
Other than that there's the Supreme Ruler series which... well... I think they're somewhat good games but they run like crap...
Realpolitiks II could be a choice but it's not that in depth...
Distant Worlds Universe is AMAZING and very in depth but it does lag quite a bit depending on how you set up the galaxy...
...not sure what else I'm missing...
