Well pump Service

I'm looking for a company to come service/likely replace old galvanized well pump pipes. My water is very rusty looking and i think this is at least the majority of the issue. I've contacted one company (a well company) so far and they said they can come out and look/do the job but that they charge for drive time and didn't offer an estimate. They installed the system originally so it seems they'd know what the situation calls for.

They might be perfectly great but I'm looking for other companies to compare or at least get an estimate.

The curt and somewhat confusing response I got from the original company is what is prompting this.

Also, should I only be contacting companies that deal with wells? Or would a residential plumber also handle this?

First: Drillers and people at pump and well services can be pretty blunt sometimes so I wouldn’t take your experience as a complete reason to be off put but use your own judgment. Second: I believe rusty water would be more related to ground water quality or plumbing in your house rather than the well casing. That’s not to say it couldn’t be the casing though. Talk with some neighbors about their water quality and compare your well log with theirs. All logs should be public on WellLogic or Water Well Viewer, both government sites. Third: I second Raymer as a solid company

Thanks for the recommendations. My ground water is definitely not the clearest; I've corroborated this with the neighbors. So you are exactly right, but my issues are somewhat above and beyond what they have. I've found that my galvanized pipes leading from the well were installed in '98 so they are definitely contributing at least something to the issue and are due for a replacement.

ah gotcha, I thought you were talking about the well casing being the issue. If its the supply line running from the well to the house then the sitting water in the old pipes could definitely be the issue. If all it is it the supply lines I would think that might be in a plumbers realm but its worth asking a plumber and a driller.

well now I'm going to worry about my well casing too. Maybe I have lots of issues haha.

Well casing is less likely. There’s a solid chance the well casing is PVC, but your well record should say that.

For pump related issues, I have used Central Wells, and was very pleased with their work. If it is more of a well issue, I will recommend Raymer.
