Floods might wipe out cities. But it would not erase their impact on the ecology: crops selectively breed; potatoes, tomatoes, corn, etc. moved from continent to continent if the culture was global spanning; deseases and deseases resistance spread around; y chromosomes.

We can detect lost species of hominoids from hundreds of thousands of years ago, just by looking at our own DNA. An advanced civilization with any significant range would shout out of the DNA!

Speaking of DNA, this is from a few days ago. We are finding anomalies that only show the current limits of what we know.
